Cheap as chips that! In all seriousness though, the thing they both possess is real pace and power going forwards, they may not be the best defensively but we'd be paying a lot more to get all 3 aspects. If we have 2 players that can do a job at the back but also get us up the pitch at the same time then that's great. Relying on Wilf to get us up the field since Bolasie left has made us very 1 dimensional again. If we are going to use wingbacks a bit more then we can leave our CB's to defend a bit more but have the pace to cover when needed, that's one thing Souare brought to us that no-one else in our back line can do. i get what your saying, it makes sense but if youve got achlupp who is suspect defensivly but will do the work to get back then a limited moving forward but sound defensivly option would be much better.

Maybe they need money to fund some transfers. The word is he's asked to leave and given that he's currently unhappy at Sunderland is he likely to give his all.....? Sure you can do a West Ham and block his move but I suspect Sunderland can't afford to do that financially.

£20 on 2 "full backs" who are flimsy defensivly doesnt sit very well with me personally. we will see tho...not in the slightly bit bothered if this one falls through The thing is, as Tony intimated, it's not a lot of money, well it is, but not for Two fairly well regarded PL players. I asked another mackem friend of mine about PVA and he said pretty much what you have. Better attacking than defending. I'm not totally unhappy with that as that seems to be the way with modern full backs. The days of Emlyn Hughes and Stuart Pearce are long gone.

He used to be a trainee electrician and Bobby Gould who took him to Coventry from Wealdstone still refers to him as 'Sparky'.

They can defend its just that full backs defend "differently" now, more about standing players up. There was one moment on Saturday where Schlupp got back and made a great sliding tackle. Though arguably he put himself in that position in the first place. As for price, time will tell. Townsend seemed a bargain, not so much now.

Come on now and join The Eagles VAN AANHOLT TO PALACE? Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt, according to the Daily Telegraph. The report suggests the fee could eventually reach £12m with Palace hopeful of completing the deal by the end of the week.
