I thought the shot was whacked really hard and was travelling across the keeper. Steve managed to get a decent touch to it but it was just unlucky that the the ball took that weird ricochet.

I don't think it would have been possible to 'gather cleanly' a ball hit at that pace.

Hardly the greatest error for a goalkeeper we'll ever see. Before I saw it, the way people were talking, it sounded like a proper 'clanger'.

It wasn't.

With respect, I don't agree.

It's not as if he would have made a conscious effort to divert it over. Many would deem that he got lucky as he should have made a much better show of dealing with the shot.I'm sure Mandanda himself is disappointed that he never gathered it cleanly.

I have mentioned on here that to-date I haven't seen anything to suggest that Mandanda is an improvement on Hennessey.Maybe, in time this will change as he adjusts to the PL and defenders in from him.

Regards the 2nd goal on Saturday, some are defending him but from my perspective he made a real hash of it.Differing opinions make up the rich tapestry of HOL !

I think people are forgetting just what a nightmare was having between the sticks before he got dropped. Mandanda has made saves (like the gorodn banks-esque one against Liverpool that Hennessey could only dream about.

I tend to agree that the 2nd one against us at the weekend was down to an error, and i think his reaction showed that. However he also made a double save later on that more than made up for it.

he is a quality keeper playing behind a less than quality back four and he knows it.

Plus how the f*** is Andy woodman a coach at anything bar darts and drinking the fat git, it's no wonder good keepers come here and go to rats !

Didn't like Hennessey. Always took a sharp intake of breath when he got anywhere near the ball. I still favour JS but I realise that ship has sailed so to speak

A pity that the four blokes in front of him weren't.

I have heard it all now, how you can even dream to compare him with Gordon Banks is beyond belief.
He flatters to deceive, he cannot do the basics like catching and holding on to the ball. watching him try to gather the ball is like watching a kitten with a ping pong ball.
Don't blame the defence for his basic errors, any defence would play poorly knowing he is in goal behind them.

Judging by the post I doubt you have heard it all, or even a small percentage. I compared a save he made to one Gordon Banks made, and it was a comparable save, down ward header into the bottom corner and somehow he got down to it and pushed it against the post. To deny the save had any similarities shows more about your intellect than me comparing it does about mine. Also I compared the save, not the keeper, but hey you read into what you like, don't let anything like what I actually wrote stand in the way of a good rant.

Flatters to decieve you say ? can't catch, like watching a kitten ? Can I ask you do know Mandanda is the black one, only you've just described Hennessey he's the white welsh one.

Don't blame the defence ? please enlighten me how he was at fault for the free headers inside the box against Liverpool, or the complete and utter absence of any defence for Burnley's winner on Saturday.

Actually having read your post back, I think you are probably on a wind up as no one could intentionally be that clueless surely.

What's the point in even playing a goalkeeper if he doesn't try and come for balls on the edge of the 6 yard box?

Because the defenders were lined up on the edge of the 6 yard box, and should be dealing with it, not allowing free headers from 2 yards out FFS. I don't remember Speroni getting all this sh1t, and he came out for less crosses than Count Dracula himself.

Mandanda is a keeper of some pedigree, Hennessey is not. Why is that so hard for you to believe unless of course you believe our defence is not the problem, in which case I can't take you seriously any more.

It really amazes how people see the goalkeeping situation so differently. We all watch the same games.
