Yes I know but the point I am making is that we still have a relatively cheap squad. That will obviously change over time but that;s the key, time.

With respect, I wasn't arguing against you, just giving some figures relating to our spending.

Funnily enough I was here before 1st January which is why I look at his record as a whole not a random date that suits

As for spend heavily, what was the net spend again?
Also like I said, decent manager, not great, or did you chose to ignore that point too?

His record as a whole is still impressive - after 73 games he's at 1.44 pts per game for his complete tenure - BUT the average points per game
trendline is trending heavily downward from 2 pts / game in the first half of his tenure, to 1 pt per game in 2016 (very close to NW's level of points return).

As pointed out elsewhere, 1 point per game gets you v. v. close to relegation.

He needs to be turning that trendline around & soon.

The net spend is good, but that does include selling Gayle & Yala, as much as I think AT & CB are improvements on the outgoing 2 as a package - it's still a net increase of zero premiership class players in the squad for your £16m. (Note Gayle had a better minutes to goals stat that Vardy last year).

One can discuss "Net Spend" in terms of transfer activity but there are also wages to consider.Last season our wage bill was @ £54 Mill and I think it was the 4th lowest in the PL. It will be more this year but we might still only be in the 'Bottom 6' on this front.

I'm not calling for his head purely down to the risk of a new man taking us a few places higher or relegation. Seen too many times us feck up our potential and unless SP gets someone lined up Southampton style then I can put up with what might be below average home record and better away results.

I see what he's trying and no doubt there's little other choice in British managers but there no doubt is better abroad. But that takes research and I don't see that happening any time soon.

I recommend if you don't like his spin of losses to switch it off. Means sh1t anyway.

On the subject of "Heads rolling", today Zenga and Caldwell were sacked. This season the following have also departed : Feeney, Robinson, Di Matteo, Guidolin, Hessenthaler, Mellon, Mowbray, Pearson, Stubbs and Trollope. That's 12 and the season is barely 2 months old !

I wonder if those that want rid of AP would like any of those as our new manager. Still have not seen any of them suggest an alternative yet.

You are aware that it's possible to both believe Pardew isn't good enough & also accept that there are no better alternatives out there ???

Just asking because you seem to imply that just because my ilk can't
suggest an alternative, our view regarding Pardew's ability is invalid.

Kind of makes the moaning irrelevant if you cant come up with a solution. Might be best to keep your council until a viable option comes to light.

Stop insulting people. If you have a point to make it gets lost when you behave like that.

There's nothing wrong with questioning a manager but people have as much of a right to disagree with you as you have to make your point.

I've been in moderator slumber for ages, and you've woken me up. Reign it in.

I get abused, insulted and patronised every time I have an opinion on this site that's against the grain. When someone consistently tells me I'm a plastic who doesn't have a clue about football amongst many other snide comments and doesn't even have anything to back up the point they're making, I feel entitled to call them an imbecile!

What's your opinion Hambo? Sometimes you can close a thread or bring 2 parties closer.
