Of course, we'd all like to keep Bolasie. However, 25-30million is insane for a player that can be as inconsistent as he is, no matter how exciting he is on his day. His crossing and shooting are generally patchy (though some recent improvement has been seen in the latter) and he's not as good as, say, Wilf at tracking back. We have also a more than adequate replacement in Townsend signed already who may well fit into our tweaked style a little better (plus he is younger). I love Bolasie and everything he has done for this club. He will be a legend considering the part he's played in this bright period for us. However, now is the right time - if any time is right - and should we finally get Benteke over the line, this will be a super transfer window. Yes, tinged with just a hint of sadness, but at least we will look on Bolasie fondly and we haven't been screwed over.

I've absolutely loved watching Yala when he's on his game but can totally understand the club here. We always said that if he was on his game every week he'd be worth £30m and without too much improvement that's still near enough happened. We've been offered silly money, above what he's worth, and it looks like it's being used to fill a big gap upfront. FFP does apply to us and with a relatively small turnover, we can't be spending what we have + a top striker without letting anyone go. Will forever be fondly remembered by all at the club and truly wish him the best.

I would prefer Bolasie to stay at least another season, but if this is what it takes to stop Pardew playing him down the middle then maybe selling him is not such a bad thing. As has been said above though, it's only a good deal if we can bring in someone like Benteke as a result, especially as we've already let Gayle go as well. A good start to the season could be crucial this year, so we cannot afford to wait much longer to add to our attacking options. Will Bolasie stay, or decide to leave? 'I don't think even he knows what he's going to do next' (anyone else sick to the back teeth of hearing that? )!

Big mistake if we let Bolasie go just because we end up getting Benteke. Bolasie, Zaha and Townsend feeding him chances is what makes Benteke so attractive in the first place! I haven't gone through previous posts , but there is no way that Zaha, Townsend and Bolasie can play together. I've loved seeing Yala develop as a player, but this move suits all parties. I wish him every success - apart from 2 games next season.

Regrettably, this with bells on. Originally posted by laddo
The harsh reality is that as much as he gets us off our seats with some skill he doesn't create enough and doesn't score enough. I will miss him as he's been a huge part of the journey. He's also a terrific bloke. But 25m is a lot of money. Edited by laddo (09 Aug 2016 3.37pm)

Regrettably, this with bells on. What he does offer is a fear factor. He occupies defenders who are terrified of him which creates space for others. He does make things happen.

And there's a LOT to be said for being able to do that. He takes hold of the game and rattles it up. Sure, it may not end up on paper as him getting the stats, but so often ends up with chances for us. If our wingers and front men have a single purpose to get Benteke 1 on 1 with the keeper, if Bolasie can be focussed on doing that, then it will mean GOALS. Our problem last 2 years is that Bolasie has never had a Benteke to target. The poor fella's even been made to play that role himself! No...I think Bolasie/Benteke could be an awesome duo. But...the money's good...my theory is not factual...We have a dearth of great wingers meaning AP sticking Bolasie in the middle...Liverpool may throw in Oumar Niasse on a free loan...then we'd get Benteke...have a dearth of strikers...so sell him.

I dint think the Everton fans will be as forgiving as us when his shots disappear into the top tier but it has been great fun watching him

Agree on Montero, very good player and am suprised he has not played himself into the Swansea starting 11. Should not be too expensive either. Originally posted by CPFC/SCCC
