I've just been informed that for the first time in 139 Test Matches, or since 2004 for those playing along at home, England's team will not contain a player born somewhere in Africa.

Good for you England; well played.

People in glass houses.

You've had your own history of foreign born players in your side of course.....Just recently....Off the top of my head.

Ahmed....In your touring squad, born in pakistan.
O'Keefe
Henriques
Khawaja
Symonds......Was English of course.....You've had ten English born players play for your lot.

And then of course you have Warner.....Who isn't even human of course but rather is a oversized pig with a haircut.

I had to chuckle at that. You forgot the moustache though

Not a bad day overall. Lythe didn't do much as usual but if England keep their heads they can chalk up a good score. How nice it was not to be 30-3 for a change!
The bowling of Anderson and Finn was superb!

First time in 139 tests... blimey Charlie.

Not sure Malaysia and Portugal are known for their cricket, Stirlo, so you can cross off those middle two.

Actually, most of that tiny list is barely comparable mate. Symonds moved here as a 2 month old adopted baby or something like that...

Pretty certain Ballance for starters spend the bulk of his life in Africa.... I.

What the hell does Warner have to do with anything? That said, he is a flog, I'll pay that.

Hang on mate.....You're the one with the 'foreign born' waffle......You don't get to suddenly produce a list of what's acceptable or not.....Even though I reckoning the whole argument is ridiculous....But lets do your nonsense seeing as you started it.

You don't get to qualify what makes an acceptable 'foreign born' player.

I didn't hear Aussies saying....Gower was ok, or Strauss or Prior is ok.....No one was coming out with the nuances of how long they stayed here or lived there.

And who gives a monkeys whether it's a cricketing nation or not......According to your logic, 'foreign born' is 'foreign born'.

Na mate, all you are doing is making yourself look like is a wind up.....A wind up who's dressed in the emperor's clothes.

Haha. Emperor.

What a days cricket!! 13 wickets.

Great toss to win. Fully expect England to put their foot on our throat here. First session could dictate the direction of this series.

Clarke won the toss of course.

I agree.....If England get a lead of 150+ it's going to have to take some comeback in the third innings.

It's possible though that the Aussies could run through us though and keep it to about fifty.

That would be quite a game on.....And a finish probably inside three days.

I'm hoping for the big lead obviously.

Yeah, I know. Was shocked when he batted.

I guess he's hoping by the 4th innnings the pitch is will be rat sh*t.

I agree fully, 150 lead on this pitch would be like gold. I truly believe the first hour or so could possible have a major influence on where this series heads.

Morning Chaps,

Does anyone have a link for today's play, so i can either see us struggle to a 50 run lead, or smash the Aussies to pieces?

Why the hell didn't Buttler review?! Would've been given not out! D'oh!

I think a lead of 100+ will be very useful. Any more an Australia will be in a difficult position. Every run the tail can get is crucial!

Not a bad lead but we should've got a few more for the last 3 wickets.

Let's hope none of the Aussies get a big score.

Lots in this pitch, hopefully they don't set us more than 200. Anything below that and we *should* be fine. Anything above is going to be tricky.

I can see someone getting a big score.

As for Bairstow, I have never been convinced about him at test level.

David Lloyd on commentary's immediate reaction was "that's plumb. Don't waste a review on it" and the other commentators also thought it looked out. Buttler did discuss it with Ali so they obviously both thought it was out but as one of the commentators said "A more experienced player would have reviewed it anyway on the basis that he was the last recognized batsman and they had two reviews to waste"
