There are good people and bad people out there and it has nothing to do with skin colour, religion, or anything else. Some humans are horrible.
I am a hairdresser and talk to almost all different nationalities on offer in Croydon. We all seem to be the same. I love the diversity.
I think all the problems come from people not talking to each other, not connecting with strangers, being suspicious instead of open. I also believe that with social media this will get more problematic over time.
Really sad because most of my clients are great to chat with- great stories and anecdotes. Everyone has a story if you're willing to listen.
I've got food and shelter tonight and a loving family and a few good mates.........and a passion for Palace.
I am incredibly grateful

Commonality with a diverse range of people discovered and appreciated through actual real life interactions. Great! Sounds like an obvious approach, but many prefer to keep to whatever they deem 'their own kind' to be.

The number of people who actually 'want' to live amongst diverse cultures is relatively low compared to those who don't.

The majority of those who have the financial muscle tend to live amongst people who share common cultural heritage with them.

Ah, if we are playing Neighbour Top Trumps........the number of people who are truly bothered by living amongst other cultures is relatively low compared to those that aren't.

See London for millions of examples.

'Want' is one thing, being 'truly bothered' is another.

Not being truly bothered means they get on with it rather than wasting their time worrying about something which doesn't really register. Good on 'em.

You mean something they are powerless to stop thanks to the business elite and their gullible, short sighted liberal supporters.

What's your factual evidence for all this?

Edited by legaleagle (21 Apr 2015 10.24pm)

He lives it. He see's it. Just as we all do regardless of our colour/race/religion.

You appear to rely on 'polls/meaningless statistics' above 'human experience' for some reason? Wrong way round.
You want him to be wrong when you really know he's right.
Why?

it is at the most hearsay, a bit like your response "agreed" purely means that you personally don't want to live near black, brown, yellow, or green skinned people.

Statistically, you would actually find, for example, Asian, for example, as they move up the social strata moving to more affluent areas.

The issue with some midland and northern cities is that very poor unskilled labour was bought in to supply the mills etc., which no longer exist. No effort was put in to educating the first generation of immigrants, or subsequent generations and these families have no way of getting out of these sink holes and hence back-lash against the perceived norm etc.

Read what was written ffs.
My 'agreed' was in response to MANY cultures seemingly not wanting to mix! It has nothing to do with my ethnicity or where I bloody live but everything to do with my observations.

Yup, it's not a racial thing as such but far more of a cultural one.

Wealthy people don't tend to live in multicultural areas. Even the wealthy in London, live in pretty exclusive areas by cost and the people they knock around with tend to be culturally similar to them.

Mmmm....You're not really thinking about it Kermy.

I said, those with the financial means tend to move out of multicultural areas and into areas filled with people similar to them culturally.

There is statistical evidence for it if you're ideological enough to doubt majority human nature.

London is definitely diverse now.....Far more so than the London I grew up in.....And I grew up in Stockwell as a minority myself.

A lot of that 'diversity' came to London to make money...Not for a love of multiculturalism. Many of them go back. One of my old Latvian students (who I keep contact with on FB) has just gone 'home' herself (her word)......Most natural thing in the world.

I'm surprised that this observation would be countered to be honest.

My old man moved the family out to Wisbech after my Mum was mugged and I'd been attacked.

I know this is how you'd like human nature to be Kermit....And for a minority it will also be true.

Still, for the majority....necessity and the ideal are two different things.....Also, it's hardly the most important things for most of us.....Getting by is.

Still, no one said this was the most important aspect.....I connected the thing to wealth and human nature and what people tend to do when they have the means to.

At least this is now boiling down to why most people vote UKIP.

UKippers believe people are innately racist, and hence migrate to one's own. HOWEVER, not only are they racist but classist, religious bigots, misogynists, and protectionists, as they tend to their own culture in all things.

I really don't understand the issue when a young Latvian says they are going home, for most, going home is where their parents live, the house they grew up in. Obviously not for some British.

I am going to enjoy voting with these people.

The only thing revealed here are your attitudes.

Who said there was an issue about my friend referring to Latvia as 'home'...Didn't you read that I said it was a natural thing?

In my experience I tend to find that it's the people who use the word 'bigot' in describing others who are amongst the least tolerant people out there.

I'll put it on the NSC. The only problem is it is where your head should be.

As stated often in many threads Ukippers prefer their own.

I love the way you presume to know me and all other UKIP followers.
My maternal grandfather came to the UK from the Island of Dominica in the Caribbean, where he met my grandmother, who had arrived in the UK a few years earlier from Cork in Ireland. My great grandmother (on my dad’s side) was from Southern Italy and there’s also some Scottish in there somewhere. So please tell me, who is ‘my own’ which I apparently enjoy being around so much?

We live in a time where the major parties trotting out the same lines lead to people looking to cast a vote elsewhere. People vote for a party for numerous reasons though. The political landscape is very fluid at the moment and regardless of our likes of dislikes of the parties involved, that's probably not a bad thing.

Other than the fact we'll end up with the same thing.
