Those abusing Rooney are an absolute f*cking disgrace to our club. Was so embarrassing to see that & right at the start of the game too when he hadn't done anything wrong. C0cks.
Coin and bottle throwing - wrong. Shouting a bit of verbal is fair game in my book. It's been going on since I started watching palace back in the 80's, so not sure why it's such a shock to people. Suppose it's the new premiership fans we've obtained this season that get shocked by anything and everything.
It was embarrassing watching the abuse.
You must get easily embarrassed if a bit of shouting makes you cower and hide in shame.

Players get abuse/banter, that happens in every ground. What he got was embarrassing to watch, that much hate & having coins thrown at him. From what you say, I assume you are at least in your 40's but your attitude is incredibly young.

Well said Palaceareback. Its not the shouting that's an embarrassment but what has actually been shouted. How can anyone not be embarrassed by this? Have some no idea or sensibility to what their fellow Palace supporters are being associated with? No wonder they can act the way they do.

I've just sat here and read every single reply to this thread and would like to add a few things. I have sat in block B for 5 years now and I've got to know a lot of the HF lads. Most of them are really decent lads. Obviously there is a few who will fight if threatened or provoked but they are a NON VIOLENT GROUP. Most of them are just like any other fan in the ground who love palace. Some of these lads was doing there 8 hour shifts at work and then putting in another 10 hours making this display possible. They never demand it but they certainly deserve huge respect for what they do. Re coins: Not everyone in block B is associated with the HF and with all the things they have to worry about at the moment ( Dorrans and the port manor, the papers and bad press they get) do you really think they would be that stupid? These lads are not idiots and I can almost assure you that it wasn't a HF member who threw a coin. Also remembering that if the culprit was wearing a black jacket then it doesn't necessarily mean they are HF. Re aeroplane gestures: this is a short one. The rules were simple, anyone found doing this in the block would have been removed by HF members. These guys are not what people make out. Anyone with any doubts about them or who continuously slate them maybe come down when they are setting out the next display. Have a look before you judge the book by its cover.

We did an absolutely belter of a job of winding Rooney up and duly reaped our reward. I can't stand Rooney and view him as the ultimate parasite ( or should I say professional ) who plays for the money and not for the shirt. However I must say I almost admire him for how he rammed the abuse back down our throats on Saturday. The guys in the corner really did make me cringe.

Not official rules, but any palace fan seen doing that within distance would have been removed. Heck I would have done it myself. It's sick and not wanted.

Good comment Tippee and good to hear. I think its fair to say that most Palace fans are very proud and grateful to the HF for their hardwork and unbelievble atmosphere they create....they are a real credit to the club and worth a few points in a very close season. I sit in the main stand and partcularly enjoy the singing and chanting which easily outshines every other PL support. I just hope that the accusation of unacceptable chanting e.g planes crashing or that some members have become violent. If as u say, they would be turfed out by the HF then this makes me even prouder....please dont let a couple of young idiots spoil such a fantastic thing

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
