Her biggest mistake was not letting our Harriers and tanks march over and into Buenos Aires when she had the chance in 1982. We could have ripped the snakes head off given the chance and established an overseas territory in Latin America, based on good Protestant values.
Goodness is what you do. Not who you pray to. |

Not at all Moosey. I am stimulating debate and thus keeping HoL alive. Without debate, HoL is just a place for weirdos to promote the works of Bruce Springsteen, accuse others of insulting their wife on travel blogs and to discuss binge w***ing sprees from the 1980s.

A trade that would be decimated by the policys of capital and corporate appeasement hers and successive govrnments would pursue. Back then running a grocers was a decent trade, with a good income, that qualified you as middle class. These days, you'll be lucky to make a living in the trade as an independent.

Hated her and what she stood for when in power and now I am prepared to show her the same compassion she showed to all those she screwed over! The fact that our current politicians (of whatever persuasion) still carry a whiff of her is even more reason to deplore the legacy which she so generously bestowed upon this country! I am not without sympathy for those of her friends and family who may have genuine personal reasons for grief, but don't expect me to change my opinion, just because she stopped breathing! That would be hypocrisy!

Margaret Thatchers death has taught me 2 things. 1. Crystal Palace fans are quite political. (take a look at all the most popular posts) & 2. John Major has a weird top lip

The EU rebate - now somewhat eroded, but redressed in part the inherent basket case that was the cap. Instrumental in bringing around the end of the cold war by getting Gorby and Ron to work and trust each other. Won a war - Falkland Islanders I'm sure will be forever grateful.
Plenty more Far from great. She did good stuff too but the destructive stuff outweighs it imo. The sh1t we see in our society today? A lot of that had its nascence from the 80's and that Government.

I don't think there will be another prime minister ever who divides opinion as much as she did. You only have to look at the debate on here and all over the country really that shows you that the left have to admit she got some things right. And the right have to admit that she got some things wrong. One thing I did respect her for was once she made up her mind she stuck with it, even though at times she probably knew with hindsight it was wrong. But the public expect strong leaders. This has always been the way over hundreds of years. As prime minister you are paid to make decisions, massive decisions that change peoples lives. You're never gonna keep everyone happy but I would rather someone stay true to there word rather chop and change there mind which shows weakness. My old man always voted for her. He was a copper and she was a massive supporter of the old bill, promising them a massive pay rise before she came to power and implementing the rise immediately. Although we now know that was all part of a master plan in her quest to take on the unions. She basically guarenteed the votes of every copper in England and Wales and there families and of course they went on to earn a fortune during the miners strikes. My old man was based up in Derby for that. More or less paid half his mortgage off. Not gloating just shows you the two ends of the spectrum on how she affected people. You had working class people on one side losing there jobs, homes etc and working class people on the other side making a fortune.
Thatch kinda gave the police carte blanche and the wrong 'uns didn't half enjoy themselves.
