I can't see this on the thread elsewhere, but apologies if it is there. As a kid my mum used to sing to me:
(To the tune of Tiptoe Through the Tulips):

Tiptoe,
Through the Holmesdale,
With your boots on,
Get your 'ead kicked in,
Oh Tiptoe, through the Holmesdale with meeeeee.

I've never once heard anyone else that seems familiar with this so I'd love to know whether the fans ever actually sung this or whether I have a particularly sadistic but creative mother.

It has now been posted 3 times on this thread, so I guess that answers your question?

Apologies. That's kinda why I posted the first line (which I have now amended to bold for you). I genuinely did scroll through pages and pages looking for it but my specs must need updating!

No need to apologise... I was highlighting how popular it was, rather than chastising you. I should have added a friendly smiley icon!

"there's only one, Dougie Freedman..."

Well, someone had to, unless someone already has.

been going for 35 years ...but last year I heard my favourite
"Theres only two dougie Freedmans, just two dougie freedmans
the Hero up front the others a c***, walking in a palace wonderland!"

comic genius!

I think it's a shame we never sing 'you fill up my senses'

A return of that would be awesome...com'on block b...do your ting

I agree, that was a brilliant song.

You fill up my senses
Like a packet of Bensons
Like a gallon of Fosters
Like a line of cocaine...

How did the rest go?

a days racing at Lingfield
a night at Cinatras
cause you are my Palace
come fill me again.

never been to cinatras mind...was it some old nightclub in croydon?

great chant tho...

Sinatras I think was a very dodgy nightclub in Croydon in the 1980's. There was Cinderella Rockerfellas in Purley about the same time too, both absolute dives if I remember correctly!

Agree about the song though, a classic which should be revived.

YES revive this.....fecking excellent

From the very early 70s -

We don't carry hammers
We don't carry lead
We only carry hatchets
To bury in your head
We are loyal supporters
Fanatics everyone
So come down to Croydon Town
To see what Bert Head's done !!!

Can't remember the name of the tune it is sung to but some of you old timers might remember!!!
