Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Nov 2022 6.04pm) Actually that is completely untrue. 50 years ago I was concerned about it, and about the impact it would have on our way of life. Part of my family were living in Southall and upped sticks to relocate to Cornwall, which gave me my first taste of here. They hated the smell of curries in their street! Now I look at the progress and work ethic of the Indian community and see what a tremendous contribution they have made to our country. In so many ways they are now role models to aspire to. Of course not all have made that progress but it shows it can be done.

Brexit Failure according to the Guardian. Our trade with Japan has slumped after we signed a new deal. Wow how much did it slump by? £400m which in the overall scheme of things is not huge (4% approx) I would not call it a slump more a decrease. Why did it slump then? Oh all due to Brexit and Liz Truss. So no other factors then? Of course not this is the Guardian other opinions are not available. Well I'm still going to have my say. The deal was signed in Oct 2020 when we were still in covid mode, in fact Japan has only come out of that in the last few months so perhaps that might have something to do with it? Also there is a little matter of a global recession. It maybe that this is a lousy deal but until we have recovered from the after shocks of covid and Ukraine and the recession it is pointless to make comparisons and blame it on Brexit. Still why let the facts get in the way of a good Brexit rant. Edited by Badger11 (27 Nov 2022 8.03am) Edited by Badger11 (27 Nov 2022 8.07am)

Meanwhile, pretty much every other media outlet in the country continues to skirt reality so as not to hurt people's feelings. There are thousands of small businesses who would like to give you a good old Brexit rant I'm sure. To assert there is an anti-brexit bias in the media is bordering on taking the piss.

Many such cases.

Cleverly: UK cannot hang on to ‘comfort blanket’ of traditional allies. The Foreign Secretary argued new partnerships must be forged with increasingly influential countries across Latin America, Asia and Africa, he's gone fishing without a rod. In other words we have no friends, our traditional allies the USA Europe, even Australia, they will pay lip service to us but really don't want the hassle. Adding ridiculous coal mines makes us look more detached from reality and the tories are still in Truss mode with their 'turbo-charging' growth by risky de-regulation of the banking sector (we have been there before). It won't work of course, other major players will not adjust to what the UK wants and it has taken a major hit in what see as our incompetence.

There are thousands of small businesses who would like to give you a good old Brexit rant I'm sure. I have no idea if this is true. To assert there is an anti-brexit bias in the media is bordering on taking the piss. That wasn't my point. My point was that the Guardian was manipulating trade figures to suit it's agenda. Actually after I wrote this piece a couple of days later an economist also rubbished the guardian article only he did it better than me. A 4% drop in trade with Japan is not a disaster and the Guardian failed to point out the significant other factors that have impacted trade. They also failed to point out that Trade figures are notoriously unreliable and often subject to revision at a later date. As I said in my original post I don't know if this is a good deal only time will tell.
