Sorry, but you are in denial. The influence of the social media disinformation and encouragement is well established. It is the only possible reason on why, where and when the riots happened. They did not just appear spontaneously. I did not suggest that ALL involved were xenophobic yobs. Or confirmed far right. That some were ought to be obvious, given the behaviour. What th wee composition of each riot was is beside the point. They were the useful idiots being used as foot soldiers. Idiots because not showing self restraint, and taking responsibility for your own actions, has put people in jail. The fact is that the flame that lit the fire came from the far right. How civil unrest happened before is irrelevant to how it happened this time. There would have been many different precursors. This one is known.

They don’t look very middle class to me and their political views are impossible to determine. They are as working class as the guys in the pub. They made some noise, but did nothing violent or threatening. No one was harassed. There must though have been a reason why they paused their march there. Could it be that, some at least, decided to respond to them as they passed by? There’s a lot of fist raising and chanting from people. A least one wearing a mask and another with a banner. Or was it because the guy that was speaking described themselves as “patriots”. A word that has acquired a new meaning in recent years. To portray this as an attack on the working clsss is desperate searching for anything to change the narrative. It’s not going to convince anyone other than the already convinced. Looks can be deceptive. Sir Keir looks quite middle class but his dad was a toolmaker, as he might have mentioned a few times, and he's as working class as they come.

Xenophobia is a fear of foreigners but it’s another hijacked word to diss on right leaning people. Tbh at the moment a Muslim with a rucksack scares the s*** out of me. History shows that a tiny minority might be planning to see their 73 virgins.

As it is the funeral today at 2 o’clock of one of the victims of the Southport atrocity, Alice de Silva Aguiar, perhaps we should pause the ‘you are a far-right fascist’ and you are a far-left communist’ for an hour in respect for Alice and her family.

Respect. I'd say Rest in Peace but it doesn't seem right to me.

Two tier, put forward by a previous home secretary who you would have thought would know better, is nonsense, of the first batch of 6 sentenced 3 were muslim. There is a very good reason why tories have not responded to the challenge of the riots. Guilt.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Far right ‘unchristian’, says Archbishop of Canterbury as he condemns riots. Justin Welby says violent disorder was racist and calls adoption of Christian imagery an ‘outrage’.

Far right ‘unchristian’, says Archbishop of Canterbury as he condemns riots. Justin Welby says violent disorder was racist and calls adoption of Christian imagery an ‘outrage’. Some obvious points would be: We've quite obviously rejected being controlled by religion but have imported loads of religious nutcases. Similarly, I can't imagine this is resonating with many British people. I also should think that the main part of current C of E congregations are made up of immigrants. So he needs to keep the coffers full. It's more likely for people in the UK to listen to the word of a Muslim leader in another country, than it is to the Archbishop of Canterbury. There's really only one religious group in general who adhere strictly to their religion. And that's not going to be Roman Catholics or Church of England. If you say something like Seventh Day Adventists or Baptists or something, I'd accept that they're usually quite dogmatic. But clearly the thriving UK religion is Islam. This is a fundamental (excuse the pun) part of what people are concerned about. You spend a few hundred years getting rid of religious influence throughout Europe, only to have a different, more radical, religion imported without any questions allowed.

Did he comment on the Olympic opening ceremony? Even his own vicars are telling him to shut up.
