Looking at the Chairman's latest interview on the club website he doesn't seem to anticipate much activity. Well so much for Textor supporting us in the transfer window it sounds like we might get AWB and that's it. I read the Chairman's statement on the club website I must be cynical because I felt it didn't sound great. I don't like this idea that we now are connected to Lyon, house of cards.

I remember saying before the season started that if we don't sell Zaha that this would probably be his last season and Man U's percentage cut probably ultimately discouraged a sale compared to his worth in ensuring the avoiding of a relegation battle. I remember being told that Zaha would be signing a new contract but it looks like that particular poster was a little too confident. Personally I understand the lack of movement in the January sales as it's rarely a time for good deals. I'm not so sure that AWB would represent good value relative to his competition. I think the club are happy with 12-16 place finish this season with the real transfer movement coming with Zaha's replacement.....I think that's the time where the right back position will be sorted and maybe Vieira gets more.....It'll be the genuine pivotal season for Palace.

Would be a shocking window just adding a rb that won't change our game at all.

I think you are right about the Jan window, a couple of Loans, unless Wilf goes, we also have 9 bench players with contacts up at the end of the season, cant see many of them getting new contracts

Here's that January transfer update in full: Palace: We'd like X player we'll take him on loan with a view to buying him at the end of the season. Selling club: No thanks West Ham / Southampton / Everton have all offered to buy now so bye bye to your buy later.

I'm not surprised with what Parish had to say. I posted a while ago that I didn't think that we would do any meaningful business in January. I also said that I did however hope that he wouldn't look at our current points tally and get complacent. And in part of his interview he makes a reference to points gained so far this season as part of the rationale behind the clubs approach to this transfer window. I think a lot will depend on how successful Palace will be in trying to loan rather than buy.

For a while I have not been expecting any significant transfer expenditure in January and the utterings of Steve Parish have dampened expectations amongst our supporters. We have to accept that we are not a club that will lavish major sums on players in the foreseeable future.

Indeed and equally not so surprising given the capital expenditure involved in the new stand and the academy facilities; nevertheless, SP is more than aware of the value of being in the PL so I feel sure won't take unnecessary risks on that front. It seems to me more a question of building gently from the strong squad base that already exists.

Parish said we have a good squad. In my opinion we have an ok first eleven (ok) but then poor cover. That's a pretty poor squad. We don't even have realistic cover in some positions. Worst is central midfield. Strikers non existent and past Andersen and Guehi - who's next? Let alone full backs. Wing cover? Come on Steve Parish - I'd go as far as to say we're among the bottom three squads in the division. Have we even got 25? I couldn't name 25 first teamers.

Look beyond the regular first team and you have Johnston, Butland, Ward, Riedewald, Tomkins, Mateta, Hughes, Luka - plenty of PL experience amongst that lot although admittedly some are in their later years at that level. Then add the younger players, some of whom are on loan, and the picture is not all gloom and despair - at least in my eyes and presumably Parish given what he said.

I share some of your concerns about the cover in certain positions particularly in central defence and Vieira has once again asserted that the squad is "Short" sentiments he expressed during the last transfer window. In the final analysis at present we are not a club which will lavish significant sums of money in the foreseeable future and will have to rely in the main on Loans and 'Potential' as well as players from the academy.
