Ismael remains, and always has been, my first choice for the role. I think what he did last season with Barnsley was sensational and is exactly what we need in the next campaign. Sounds like he had them battling, which we lacked at times last year, and made them a nightmare to play against with a really high press. I read one article that said they won the ball back in the opposition half 5% more than the league average. Would make a nice change from just sitting back on the edge of our box anyway.

Wolves has (albeit not publicly announced) but your point is sound. A delay is understandable to an extent but the world and his dog knew months ago Roy would not be with us come August. Mind you if an appointment was made on day one then we would have not had a chance for NES. Ancelotti has really thrown a spanner in the works! Mind you if it goes another week without news I will begin to feel anxious. Celtic and Spurs have been looking for a manager for months and still not found the right person, so why should we appoint the first person to come along.

So who then Cooper ? I was replying to The Dolphin, where he stated he didnt want him, coz if we did would result in relegation. I echo that.

Their back four played near the halfway line.Had we played that way with our "Dad's Army" defence we would have been relegated ! Barnsley were a young side,Brittain right back 22,another full-back Williams 21. Centre-backs Andersen and Sibbick 23 and 21, another central defender Helik 25. Edited by Willo (06 Jun 2021 6.15pm)

But exciting at the same time . I can see the Dougie and Shawn partnership making sense . Palace through and through . well most of the time .

He will require reinforcements for sure, but it won't cost a king's ransom.

I will reiterate though, the vitriol thrown at Steve Cooper is ridiculous. You can have reservations over his time in management & it's certainly a concern but he has done very well at Swansea on a budget of -£48m, losing their best players & getting play-offs two years in a row. His record is better than Graham Potters in almost every regard & he also conceded far less goals than Potter.
