You usually wouldn’t bother but it’s kind of a you’ve just got to deal with what’s shat out in front of you sort of situation on here. Maybe one, or two on this site that I’d consider equals.

Ha. No. Come on now. You’re being very plain, and binary in fact - work hard, do well. There’s no room for reality or nuance in that statement. Including the very things you threw in to cover off like a checklist, unconscious bias being one. You’re effectively saying work hard and knuckle down transcends all barriers, discriminatory or otherwise. This is, to repeat, overly simplistic ‘bollox’ Yeah you might end up with a steady job and a hassle free life. But what if you did something to start to help remove some of those barriers that prevented that pay rise. Or removed that particular opportunity. Nah. Just head down and take what you can get Like something out of 1984 What exactly do you think the rest of the country does unless they’re in a profession? They go to work, they often would rather not but know they have to. If you’re talking about me then I have no bias of skin colour with people I’ve worked with. The problem I’d have and can see there being is how people sound. You know I’ve said it before. It’s going to take a long time before it’s the norm to have lots of people in authority sounding like Tinchy Strider or Stormzy. Skin colour is of no concern in work. If I was black I’d probably drop the accent. It’s really weird when you hear black people over 40 or probably younger sounding like us and then younger black people effectively alienating themselves and their chances. There is no chance the conservative black families allow such an accent, because they’ll know it’s a barrier. There are certain problems that can or can’t be improved. Absent fathers Career advice? What advice do white kids get themselves? It takes time these days to find your trade. Then the promotion issues. I oppose DanH’s positive discrimination. The best person gets the job. I saw a video of an American guy telling white people to stop the white guilt and virtue signalling and just be yourself or a good person and don’t judge in the situations that deserve fair chances. It was everything I agreed with. The problem is when the person adopts this new street accent or dialect. It’s not going to help their cause. Progressives may not like that but there you go.

Just seen the video of about 50 right wing thugs, attacking 3 girls and a bloke, having a picnic in hyde park yesterday, im sickened that the girls didn"t take them on , looked like a right bunch of divs! They did the right thing. A group of young girls getting spat at and kicked by a mob for absolutely no reason stand no chance if they fight back. Thankfully, as with many incidents over the past few days, it was recorded and they didn't disguise their identity. Taking on female picnickers. So brave.

You’re going too granular and ignoring the conceptual basis of my points And you then point out barriers that can’t be hurdled yet you say hard work and head down solves all - which is it? That said I do agree with the point around patois and language to a degree - but isn’t it just the replacement of cockney slang? Same prejudice different era

No personal attacks. No rabbits. No holes.

Same prejudice different era Problems that the state or society can’t solve. Absent fathers, the mindset of peers dragging down friends. I doubt teachers can fully achieve that. You can never solve all I doubt, but you can make the best of what you have to offer alongside improvements. It’s as if you’re excusing not working really hard to achieve? Hmmm. The fact is that a lot of people hiring and promoting people have traditional London or outer London accents, sometimes cockney sounding. They don’t have the silly new inner London accent. I like to get down to the nitty gritty. Some people like to procrastinate and ponder and fart about around the true problems. It rarely gets anywhere apart from gives them some sort of sense of worthwhile contribution. It’s a bit like Blair and his education education education, 50% go to university without a single clue of how to join it up with real life and the job situation and country’s future.
