What so you mean if someone kicks Wilf, chop of their foot? Seems fair enough to me!! Not sure Vinnie Jones would agree though after what he did to Gazza all those years ago

I like your thinking

I am developing a new breed of football boot as we speak. Working alongside Stanley.

I think someone’s beat you to it looking at that poor Reading players face after Tyrone Mings had finished with him!!

That gets the corner thing, if the SFC player got the ball (hence no foul) yes, but wilf kicked it out!!

Any player who claps the ref for a card is getting sent off trust me.
I think Wilf's biggest problem is his body language and a short fuse.
Opposition players know they can wind him up and ref's don't like whiners.
Hopefully, with VAR, a lot of the stuff he has to endure will cut out. That tackle on him outside the box that was given as a corner was unbelievable. That has to stop.

Too right I saw that Hack and saw the player got away with, BIT like Milner did before being booked....re LFC match

quote=Phil’s Barber;3411138]

Stephens also tried a cynical hack down of one of our attackers in the second half. He took a full swipe with his foot when one of our players raced clean through when attacking the end towards our supporters. They player (Wilf/Andros/Jordan) rode the tackle but it ultimately came to nothing. A clear yellow card foul but Mariner just jogged up to Stephens when the play broke down, put an arm round his hip, had a word in his ear and smiled and left it at that!!!

I was there on the night and saw this first hand but have tried to review the game highlights on the Palace App to confirm the details but they seem to have been taken down! I watched them when they were first added to the site (all 15 mins of them) but they now seen to have been taken down?! Pre match and post match stuff but no game highlights. Perhaps the FA needed them taken down because they were just so damning and highlighted one of the worst refereeing performances we’ve seen in a long time!

Wilfs career is at a defining moment. Earlier in the season he went live on tv to complain about harsh tackles being ignored by refs. He is now appealing to the FA about the red card at Southampton. Players careers at the top are so short these days, 10-12 years if all goes well. Wilf is already more than halfway there and it is only in the past couple of seasons that his talents have really blossomed after failing to impress at Man U.
Although I am totally sympathetic to Wilfs plight and the infuriating way referees ignore dangerous play, if he doesn’t look out he could become the player who fights the system as opposed to the super star who sets the game on fire.
Since his TV interview re challenges his performances have dropped and become more cynical. At Anfield he showed everyone what he is still capable of with a world class performance that Klopp was drooling over that ironically included good referee protection culminating in a deserved red card for Milner.
Unfortunately at Southampton his display regressed back into his personal crusade to fight the system culminating in a red card for Wilf. I’m not sure Palace have professionals in place to help him with his mental approach to this or even realise the potential effect it is having on Wilf.
Wilf needs to decide NOW where his future lies. Does he follow Hazard and just accept every hacking down without emotion or does he present as the petulant player with consequences that will affect his future direction?
Undoubtedly the top clubs want the emotionless talent, but is that Wilf? His petulant performance at Southampton will undoubtedly be brought into question by any potential suitor for his talents.
So ultimately it is down to Wilf. Either morph into Hazard and just get up and walk away from every scything and move onto a top club or stay in SE 25 and continue down his current path. A career defining moment that faces Wilf to determine his remaining precious years in top flight football.

Talent always has a downside so you have to take the rough with the smooth.
Me - I will take Wilf as he is every day of the week.
He has been brilliant for us and will continue to be so until he leaves - if he ever does.
Top player who has saved our backsides more times than I can actually remember!

God post. This sums up why no one has made a realistic bid for him, although many on here think he should be playing for a top 4 club or Barcelona and we should be getting eighty plus million for him etc.
He needs to get his head down, realise that he isn’t even currently the best winger at Palace and start putting it in every week.
He doesn’t deserve champions league football, he’s at his correct level and needs to be at his best to currently be in our best 5 aside team.
Can be very good for us and become one of our best ever , but in my opinion too many tricks and not enough substance, or mentally right for a big move.
Talking to someone would help, but only if he thinks he has a problem.

I actually think his challenging responses make refs less inclined to award fouls in his favour. They're wary of being seen to be influenced by him. Or of being influenced by him.

Trouble is, sometimes it feels like he needs to feel that injustice, that rage, to hit his very best. To be right on the edge. Like he's in a fight where all he's allowed to do is kick a ball.

I've sometimes felt with him like a booking will rile him but presents him with a limit that forces him to focus on winning his fight with the football.

It felt to me like after Watford he was trying not to play on the edge...and finding it tough.
