Our scouting network needs to do better. We have not unearthed a decent striker of our own since Swindlehurst and Wrighty :-) Newcastle maybe, Everton are broke. Loans, frees and Championship players are all they can currently afford.

Matt O'Riley from Celtic who was apparently watched by Dougie last week is now out of the Champions League. I imagine if we're serious with our interest then this could make the pursuit a little easier. He played the full 90 for them yesterday and apparently impressed as a deeper lying midfielder. Sounds like just the thing we need. Good energy, good size, good feet and good passing. The perfect foil for Doucouré.

The added bonus is that on top of an 'Ayew-like' work rate, a high footballing IQ, fantastic vision and positional understanding of where his teammates will be in the next split second, is that he is ...left-footed. MotM of his first Celtic match. 5 assists since then. They paid £1.62m through May 2026. Unfortunately IMO, I cannot imagine us forking out anything less than 20-25 for him if we were to pry him off Celtic. He's good and he is loved by their supporters.

Palace get him on loan for 6 months and put him in the shop window if he does well then next summer the big boys will pile in and Textor makes a small fortune. From our POV as long as the loan doesn't cost too much then if he is a failure it is low risk. If he really is the next big thing I can't see his club selling him for £15m.

Palace wouldn't be able to sign this player anyway he doesn't meet any of the guidelines for work permit.

Matheus Franca is from Flamengo - the immediate neighbour of Botafogo. Textor has no interest whatsoever - in fact, the exact opposite. Bota / Flamengo is a 100+ year vicious rivalry replete with bi-annual death threats towards various parties (including Textor) necessitating private security teams, entrance to the stadium in secret, etc.
