Interesting view that I heard (and perhaps accurate) that those Tory voters who have done well (bonuses, income tax cuts etc.) still support the Tories, while those who haven't done as well as they expected tend to blame immigrants, ethnic minorities and gays for their situation and vote UKIP, rather than admitting their own failings.
One might suggest that you are just insulting UKIP supporters, which as we all know merely stiffens the resolve to support them more!

Interesting to hear on the news this morning that Switzerland have imposed a cap on immigration of 0.2% of the population (roughly equating to 16,000 per year. . No they haven't.
BTW. I find the whole I'm gonna vote for UKIP to upset the lefties argument very infantile. Not really basing your judgement on sound political nous is it?

I'm sorry if my post seemed to insult UKIP supporters, but that was my intention! The more their resolve is "stiffened" the less chance we have of a Tory majority, everyone's a winner!

Plus the best way to upset lefties is to vote Tory. Us lefties are very happy that the right-wing vote looks likely to be split, quite possibly allowing Labour to win more seats than the Tories. With the hard-right vote also coagulating around UKIP that means, for now, the BNP is effectively finished as a political force, which is another reason for those of us on the sane wing of politics to be quietly optimistic, even though the leader of the opposition is the least electable and credible politician in years. If the Tories - riven by infighting over Europe (again) and desperately trying to out-UKIP UKIP - are unable to beat even Ed Miliband then things are worse for them than even their most ardent supporters imagine.

Miliband and Clegg's 'popularity' are driving voters away too....... it's going to be very interesting next May.
