Nixon seems to think we may go for Gallagher in January depending on his situation at Chelsea, also more scouting to be done with Semenyo.

Honestly think it’s time to move on from Gallagher (it’s getting a bit tired) - stop wasting time and effort fawning over someone that we’re not likely to get. Focus on a couple of players in that position we CAN actually get without having to rely on so many factors having to fall in our favour.

It is claimed we didn’t bid due to him recovering from injury. Maybe we have learned a lesson but you watch Forest or West Ham get him

You won't buy Galagher for £20m. Everton and Newcastle will both pay more - even if he has a poor run at Chelsea. Could have made a bid for Semenyo this window, but he is injured. Our scouting network needs to do better. We have not unearthed a decent striker of our own since Swindlehurst and Wrighty :-)

Kind of reinforces the point. Clinton went to Birmingham as a make weight for Andy Johnson in 2002. Nothing turned up in the 20 years since.

Not a striker as such, but our best ever academy player, if not best player, this is the reason why we now have an academy that, if you are the parent of a kid who has talent, then Palace with the assurance that you are likely to get to the first team quicker than Chelsea, is the place you will send your child. Let's see in 5 years time wheather this is working, I think it will, our academy is amazing now. Edited by sotac464 (04 Sep 2022 6.31pm)

yes they will both pay more, but isnt it the players choice where he goes? Originally posted by Gribbo
