I think our new manager should be an enormous pink pussycat, or a gerbil.

The footage from the documentary has been sat on for the past 8 years. The notion that we waited all that time for the perfect moment to butter up Palace fans for Freedman's imminent return to management is about as bizarre a theory as it gets. FWIW, I think what the documentary reaffirmed is that, regardless of his behaviour, he's an immensely impressive individual. And who knows? Maybe he'd be as outstanding for us as a manager now as he was back then. But it appears all parties have found him a job in football that suits everyone down the ground & I'm in no doubt that he's a good candidate to be our DoF. We don't need him as manager. I suspect the reason for the hold up is simply that Nuno is our number one prospect and we've allowed him to have discussions with Everton rather than walking away. There is no real reason that we needed someone in place by this point, anyway. It's the 5th of June, pre-season is still the best part of a month away and most people's grievance with the time it's taking to appoint someone isn't on the grounds of what is best for the club. Generally speaking I agree with many that Nuno is the standout candidate. It would be a romantic appointment as he’s very impressive. But for me that hinges on whether or not he aligns with us a club and the politics involved with Mendes and on that side I have major reservations.

I think this may be fairly near the truth. Reading between the lines I think that Hodgson had informed the club months ago he would not like to renew but being a gentleman would not broadcast this I think we were on point of announcing or seriously short listing when Nuno announced he was leaving Wolves. This gave us another very serious contender He was sounded out and expressed an interest. Then Everton job became vacant and he told us quite properly he wanted to talk to both parties. It what you do if you have 2 job opportunities try to work out where you will fit better and be happier

Edited by Mstrobez (05 Jun 2021 6.21pm) It’s odd that 8 year old footage which was considered of insufficient quality to show 8 years ago was resurrected and added to at this time. Perhaps it’s the perfect follow up to the wonderful Spurs documentary and the theory it’s done to show Dougie in a good light is wide of the mark, but it’s by no means bizarre or a huge stretch.

I just binged watched When Eagles Dare , IT brings back alot of emotions that i thought have left Palace ! One thing i took from it was , What the f*** has happened to wilf he is going on about what a great club it is and he had so much passion as did the rest of the team . i forgot what a great leader jedi was . also both Eddie Howe and Sean dyche were interviewed for the job that Hollaway got and both ended up elsewhere . It does look like that its a lets all forgive Douggie show. Bit of a Bromance between himself and Steve .

Have to agree it seems that Douggie is still living off the half a season he had as a successful manager and it’s trying whitewash the act of betrayal as just a silly mistake.

It's suddenly do obvious, new manager is Parish with Brighty and DF in the dug out.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
