Labour are going to have to pull off a miracle or find something major on Johnson to close the gap. Still all to play for.

The fact that the Tories are not communists is almost the only good thing you can say about them. That doesn't apply to Labour, The Lib Fems, the fake Jocks, the unspellable Welsh or the Watermelons. There are plenty of parties that are not communist but are not getting any form of platform. What a mess.

So Corbyn was caught out in a lie it's quite clear he doesn't watch the Queens speech. I have to admit I don't either so does it matter? normally no. However Corbyn and Labour have made it a campaign issue that you can't trust Boris he is a liar and the public should trust Uncle Jeremy he's on your side and tells it as it is.
Interestingly the New Statesmen a Labour publication to its roots has decided not to back Corbyn. You don't expect the Times to back him but when "your own" won't you are in trouble. "Unfit to be Prime Minister is pretty damming. Meanwhile Boris dodged a bullet with Trump who for once didn't put his foot in it over the election. I would imagine Boris will be relived it was noticeable how he swerved Trump at every opportunity probably petrified that Trump might "help" his campaigning. So for Boris it's steady as she goes over the next 7 days and just make sure the Tory vote gets out. As for Swinson she going down faster than the Titanic. That's the problem when you make the election about the leader rather than the party. She doesn't look like a winner more a whinger. This election was a great opportunity for Lib Dems to hoover up the Labour remain vote but they have blown it big time and they may have less MPs than the won in 2017, certainly less MPs than when parliament broke up. Still all to play for.

I was stuck in hospital yesterday had a nice chat with a follow patient who was of Nigerian origin and lives in a Labour stronghold. She shocked me when she said she voted Brexit and would be voting Tory because Labour are a bunch of liars. Only one person but at least this lady was doing her own thinking, which brings me to my point. Labour rely heavily on the immigrant vote and love to play racial politics but are they taking this group for granted. I have no evidence for this but I wonder if newly arrived vote Labour but as they establish themselves and start to move up the economic ladder maybe "some" decide they want to hold onto more of what they have earned, are they the shy Tories?

Yep. And drawing the drawbridge up on immigration. I have the same suspicion as you with most (successful) Jews in Britain, and Asians. I remember one Asian girl who you’d think was part of the US Tea Party politics. Answer. Have more immigration. Keep inviting more and more and more people. Lots of them. Open the doors to immigration even more, after plenty of your core vote told you not to.

Unsurpringly there is very little in the Labour manifesto about tax but I found this summary: The main point here is that most of the tax rises here will hit the same people and those people are already paying the lions share of tax. A s*** load of them will just leave the UK and the tax rises will start to hit the middle and lower income workers. That's how socialism works (or doesn't)

I'm borrowing a joke from Blackadder. The Labour Party manifesto is the great piece of fiction since the French included fidelity in the the marriage vows.

That's how socialism works (or doesn't) We’ll see - I’m not against an increase in tax for higher earners as long as it’s managed properly. The super rich may well leave the country but that whole bracket of people earning around £80-100k a year aren’t going to up and run for the sake of a couple hundred quid a year. You don’t have to turn to pure socialism to re-dress the balance slightly, which is something I agree needs doing. Edited by EverybodyDannsNow (05 Dec 2019 10.58am)

Let them pay for more immigrants while watching their country go to s***.
