Describing anything as "deluded" is the mark of someone who, having run out of arguments, resorts to insults. This is normally a reliable indicator that they have lost the argument. What often follows are threats to take direct action if they don't get their own way. It is noticeable that those in the strident anti-EU group are beginning to issue such threats, now that they are perceiving their argument as lost. As no political argument is ever lost for ever surely you need to regroup, try to persuade, and prepare to fight the next battle. There is always another time. Try to elect MPs that you approve of. Good luck with that. UKIP haven't yet captured the public imagination but might well have some defectors from the Tory right holding their flag soon.

That is no "rebuttal" at all. It is a recycling of all the worn out arguments of those unable to see that things have changed since 2016, and that we need to react to the changes and not just ignore them.

We don't live in Switzerland. Deciding some local issues by holding a plebiscite can bring engagement and make sense. Determining complex issues which affect future generations should not be left to the winds of chance, or be capable of influence from those with different agendas. We employ experts to take those decisions. That we need to improve the quality of those experts is doubtless true but we must not abandon the system.
