His addiction to model train sets is always a concern, but I also see him as more commendable than others on here make out. Unfortunately most people just focus on his England and Liverpool tenures. Is there anybody whos managed either of those teams that you don't hate anyway?

Although not on the top of my wish list I don't believe it would be a total disaster. Would certainly prefer Hodgson to some of the other names being thrown around......Chris Coleman for example.

Please, not Roy. This has Warnock Part 2 written all over it again.

If we appoint hodgson, shows a total lack of ambition. He's 70 in August for Christ sake. This appointment should be a manager that potentially at Palace for the next 4 years. Brendan Rodgers would be my choice.

Now that he is out at Dortmund, I'd like to see Tuchel at least get an interview.

None of the British managers mentioned so far would be a statement of intent other than to let the world know that we're happy with lower mid-table mediocrity and a flirt with relegation.

Surely we have our eyes set on better things?!?

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

Sometimes I don't think it's necessarily as black and white as 'good managers or bad managers'. In the scale of things, they're all good managers, aren't they? They've managed in the top leagues in the world. Some managers just work with some teams...and others don't. Could Guardiola take over, say, QPR and get them promoted instantly? And who's to say there's not a genius coaching down in league one, whose philosophy ties in perfectly with the players available at, say, Arsenal.

Ranieri is a prime example.

Don't get me wrong, the thought of Hodgson and Monk bore me to death. I'm just looking for a silver lining, I suppose.

I cannot understand all those that are laughing or angry at the possible appointment of Roy Hodgson
How can you think he's a joke but not Silva or whatever young upstart there is out there
The man has done it all in the game at the highest level
Yes England went badly but there were 11 players out there that were also responsible

Silva's last three league games would worry me, certainly, but the toilet that Woy served up in the Euros was a whole different level of complete and utter s***.

And Silva is still learning and on the up, whereas Woy is so far past it he looks like circumnavigating the globe and going past it again.

If we're going to persist with ex-England managers, why don't we just exhume Sir Alf Ramsey? At least he actually won something.

We would have to flog Zaha, Townsend, Kaikai and Sako if Sir Alf took over but our bank account would look very healthy

But why is nobody talking about Roger Schmidt? He was named by Parish himself. Watford seemed to be the front runners but they've gone with Silva now, as we know. Had been linked with Arsenal too but Wengers signed a new contract.
