Of course I do. Trying to understand the reaction is hardly the same as condoning it.
That the NHS is under threat from current events is diversion on stilts.

That’s progress!

Much of what has been posted so far is not trying to “understand” it though. People think they know the reason and then excuse it.

Nothing excuses violence or xenophobia.

Try reading the article from Open Democracy. It explains what they, myself and, I believe, most people, think are the real reasons:-

The potential impact on the NHS is a very significant consequence which highlights how short sighted and counter productive the rioting is.

It's not progress when my opinion hasn't changed.
Bringing the NHS into it is pure diversion.
Wait for the results of the official enquiry before coming to any conclusions.

What article?

Are you happy that because of the rioting NHS waiting lists will probably get worse as the international staff they need decide to go elsewhere?

You referenced a court case and the only way you knew about it was to read the article or an article about it or on the tv or wireless. Unless you were there which I doubt.
If people want to go home then that’s up to them really. Obviously they don’t need a job here.

It's progress to have any opinion unequivocally stated, especially when it has to be squeezed out.

Bringing anything in that highlights the current subject's (the rioting) outcome is not a diversion. It's context.

I guess there will though be an enquiry. Speculation on what any enquiry might say has never seemed to bother people here if the subject is one they hold strong views about. Why this one? Because it doesn't match an agenda?

You said you read an article. Not that I did. I heard the information on the radio during which the Judge's words were played, seemingly in his voice.

So what article did you read?

The danger is not of people returning to their birth country but to other developed countries that are also trying to recruit them. There is already huge pressure on both recruitment and retention as other places, notably North America, Western Europe and the Middle East are also very short of trained healthcare professionals. Many offer higher wages and a better quality of life. This applies too to British staff but it's obviously easier for the international staff to up and leave and if they feel threatened may do so. Someone considering coming here may now decide not to.

As an aside which demonstrates this issue I heard someone from the Care Industry this week explain how the applications for care jobs has fallen dramatically since the withdrawal of the right to be accompanied by their family has been introduced. This is now producing another crisis of a lack of staff. Predictable, but still sad.

An opinion which isn't in doubt doesn't need to be expressed let alone squeezed out.Any way you slice it the rioting didn't happen out of the blue but was a result of what happened.
Your current outrage based on how events might affect you personally is worth reflecting on when dismissing others as yobs and idiots. Their subjective experience is just as valid.
Waiting for the enquiry has been your watchword on other occasions when it suited your agenda. Not this time though when immediate condemnation is perfectly acceptable.

You are right of course it's kind of pointless engaging him but forums are also places where people let off steam and so he benefits from that.

I find it amusing or depressing that narcissistic abuse is allowed on this site.
As a person who has a PHD on the subject. The scenario of me getting a yellow card for ousting a narcissist is quite normal. If not sad but normal.
I hope the decision is reversed for the sake decent debate.
Giving these people any sort of support is vile.

It was an article on a news website which quoted the judge.
You are deflecting from the original question.

With the way things are going now you won't get a yellow for calling someone out on a message board. But a police officer will be knocking on your door.

According to the BBC — a man has been CHARGED with rioting in Belfast for simply observing a riot.

His legal team told court, he had just turned 18 and was there to have a look at what was occurring.

When he saw the situation deteriorate, he decided to leave.

If I watch a live stream of a riot on the Internet I will probably be arrested in the future?
