Of course there will be outliers. Whoever is first to propose a new theory is ipso facto an outlier. I don’t think that’s true? Those who command the respect of their peers won’t be outliers and any new theory will be regarded with interest. They genuinely think for themselves and aren’t promoting conspiracy theories. Those that do are the ones outside the mainstream who often have political agendas to promote and then develop their own theories which tend to support them without receiving any peer review. That these then get picked up by the politically like minded as verification of their views and spread as conspiracy theories on social media has become unfortunately too frequent.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

So that's another conspiracy theory propounded. They're increasing by the day.

Edited by georgenorman (28 Sep 2023 9.45am) If you and your odd little band decide not to respond, trust me you won’t be missed at all. Indeed I greatly welcome it as not having to read routine rudeness, diversion and aggression means I can concentrate on other things. Like posts from the objective and sensible. Nevertheless, I will continue to peruse all posts on subjects that interest me and respond to any I choose to. Including those from you, in the unlikely event you post something worthwhile.

Are you serious? A 13 year old hatchet job of misleading claims by the Mail intended to discredit Labour and wind up its readers? This was a discussion document, not official policy. Many of these are written, often in controversial ways, to test hypotheses. No doubt it was done to garner information on reactions to some ideas. I’m not surprised that large chunks were removed. They were almost certainly never intended to be taken seriously let alone published as policy. That this appeared in the Mail and was the result of a FOI enquiry by a right wing think tank fishing for dirt ought to tell you all you need to know. I was working as a visa officer abroad at this time, it was most certainly implemented, whether it was official or not. I cannot go into details suffice to say, requirements to obtain visas were so were somewhat relaxed. So not a Mail hatchet job, whether you like the thought of it or not

Maybe you will find this interesting:- I know what they are; I just don't think so many opinions can be so easily dismissed. It's not as though all comments are based on rumours created by some presumably right wing villain from inside a hollowed out volcano.
