Just speculating that the advancement of years can bring about a degradation in performance, especially reflexes and mobility which are key qualities required by keepers. Managers at clubs are better placed to form such judgements based on what they witness at the training ground. God help us then with Hennessy as and when he gets older

You always have ago at us "Speroni" likers at every opportunity you get so lets have it from you: 1) Why do you dislike Jules so much and 2) why do you bull Hennessy (Flapper)up so much? Are you by chance related to him in some sort of way or just like getting no clean sheets when he plays.

The underlining facts to remember here are, Hennesey is absolute s***. Speroni isn't. The end.

Like it or not Speroni is no longer in his prime. Speroni played majority of his career in championship, he never got international recognition and his career record is no better than WH. Yes there are better keepers than WH but we can't afford them and have other priorities. SM had a far better career record than either of them and that didn't turn out too good. The negativity on this forum towards current players is not helping anyone. Players do read social media and if there confidence is already low then this really doesn't help. We need to get behind team and individuals. The 2 players who get most criticism are Ward and Hennesey both would have plenty of suitors if they were put up for sale. They are not superstars but competent EPL players

He is the major threat to our premiership status and in turn, our clubs future. I'm not saying that Speroni is the answer. All I know is that we were doing fine with him as our starting goalie. Finishing in and around the top half. Since Hennesey has come in the overall quality of the team is of a much higher standard, yet we founder and just about manage to stay up. A coincidence? I certainly don't think so. Edited by Brentmiester_General (20 Sep 2017 2.17pm) Edited by Brentmiester_General (20 Sep 2017 2.20pm)

I'm not related to WH as you keep pathetically alleging, just as I imagine you are not related to Speroni. I don't dislike Speroni - I just think he is not good enough any more. The last time I saw him - in the friendly defeat at Fulham last year - he was very poor. Their first goal was a one-on-one in which he made no effort to get the ball; for the second he dropped the ball from a weak cross for a tap-in. Many times on here last season I said that we should get rid of all 3 keepers and start again. WH is not great, but he is a better option than Speroni. The only reason Speroni keeps getting a new contract is as a reward for many years of great service to the club and because Parish seems to like having old players around the club. If you really think that WH is only in goal because he is tall then you are more deluded that I thought. Similarly, if you think we are bottom due to a lack of clean sheets. We have actually let in the same number of goals in five games as Arsenal and Liverpool. The problem is at the other end. And if you want to talk about clean sheets then your favourite Speroni hasn't kept a clean sheet in any of his last 14 PL appearances.
