The families suffering need the support of professionals and the love of the local community who all need time and space to grieve. All we should do, along with everyone else, is to give them that. There is no self righteousness. There is concern that the reaction is exploitative and misrepresented by those attempting to defend it. Exposing that needs to be done. When the result is genuine fear in a large group of people, which has the potential to harm all of us, to try to brush it under the carpet is of no service to anyone. If this thread now serves that purpose then at least it still has a purpose.

You should condemn that judge for using colour in the summing up but you don’t. The grooming gangs are “just criminals” you said. Colour and religion do not matter you said. Watch these anti whatever marches get more violent than the anti immigration ones because the only target will be the plod. This is self inflicted by slimer for not being honest right at the start. Great. Ignore the actual points but decide to criticise the language. Which was quoted and not my own. You want me to criticise the Judge? In my view he should not use such a description, but he did and so does almost everyone else. I just don’t think it’s either accurate or wise and have said so several times before. We will see whether the riots get more violent. I think the tactics have changed. Now they are using the threat of riots to create fear and disruption, rather than actually riot. They know that the useful idiots they use as their foot soldiers will be intimidated by the fear of prison so turning them out will get harder. We have seen it here yesterday. Social media rumours spread locally about planned trouble in both Truro and Penzance, causing the hospital to advise staff not to use the city centre today. The Police though say no such events are known about, and they would know.

It seems Wisbech is diverting attention away from the original topic, this is because he is seeking validation and attention by shifting the focus onto himself. He seems to find the need to answer everything, and appears frequently on posts. He must understand but won't. that In discussions, especially sensitive ones like the Southport stabbings, it's important to stay on topic and respect the gravity of the situation. Other posters should not Respond to or indulge in such behavior as it can derail the conversation further. Also, it validates his narcissistic intentions. To be fair, I am guilty of this too. When explaining to him the origins of the Palestinian flag he jumped down my throat and said that's not true then I presented him with facts and all he did was to deliberately avoid answering because of his embarrassment and just kept going with subtle abuse. He clearly does not care about any of the subjects that are posted he just wants to get a rise out of people. Edited by NJ CLOCKTOWER (10 Aug 2024 6.38am) Doubling down on a lie doesn’t turn it into a fact. One fact though is that the origin of any flag, or how people now regard it, whether that be the St George’s Cross or the Palestinian flag, have no connection to this subject.

It is just noted that your normal MO on cases is to criticise the ref to colour or religion.

I can across this today. It comes from “Open Democracy”, a not for profit, independent, organisation whose mission is to give under represented groups a voice. Something that many here seem to think applies to them. Perhaps you can ask for their help? I think it provides an insightful analysis of the current situation:-

Well, if the hospital wants to hang on to it's international staff, maybe they should have checked the situation with the local Police before scaremongering their staff over unsubstantiated social media rumours. It would seem the sensible thing to do.

The cost of living crisis, reaction to immigrant communities, grooming gang activity and the belief it has been ignored etc etc are all subjects covered in many other threads with thousands of comments about them. The fear now being expressed is that being felt by hard working, much needed and generally well appreciated highly skilled international health care professionals. They feel threatened by the xenophobic reactions of people wound up by far right influencers on social media. The result of which is that we may very well end up seeing some of them leave who would otherwise have stayed. This is new and it’s happening now. Having a debate about the long term need to recruit and train more local people is fine. Decimating the health service before any plan bears fruit is not. When xenophobic rioting is what is causing that fear, everyone needs to stand together and condemn it, in my opinion. Do you?

Trying to understand the reaction is hardly the same as condoning it.

It would seem the sensible thing to do. I agree with you and said exactly that to my wife last night. I checked the police “X” account and they were denying the rumours. So I suggest to my wife to text her colleagues to reassure them. It seems someone in the PR department was over reacting and adding to the fear that was already being felt. Because without this official warning there was plenty of concern being expressed. This just made it worse.
