The welfare state was never created for foreigners but political parties are made up of careerists seeking power and thus will use whatever means that benefits their careers and ideology to the exclusion of anything else.

Becky - I would agree mostly but then there will always be a group who should probably have the right such as poor pensioners - just a single example and of course many of them pay tax I guess. In general it is an excellent idea.

I have a lot of sympathy with this view though I'd have it even fewer and make it home owners.

Is it fair....well considering how hard owning a home is now it probably isn't.

However, does it ensure that those voting have a massive stake in the nation's future....Yes.
