I would not discount the scenario whereby we retain our PL place and Roy Hodgson continues to be manager beyond this season. One can only speculate if in general supporters will be happy for him to continue in these circumstances. Edited by Willo (03 Jan 2021 5.34pm)

So far 9 games against teams from 1-10 in the table have yielded 9 points and from those 11-20 have yielded 13 points from 8 games You'd be crazy to want to sack a manager with that record unless you get Guardiola, Klopp or a manager with credentials like those to replace him.

Anyone who wants him gone just needs to look at the table. We are 4 points off Chelsea and a nice gap is building up to the relegation spots. If there was ever a bad year to get relegated then this is it. Most clubs are haemorrhaging money because of Covid. Staying in the division is the only priority this year.

There has to be a transition with older players leaving the club and a desire to 'Freshen up' the squad and I just feel that many believe it is time for a reset with a new man in charge. I am unsure whether the majority of supporters would wish to change the manager on the back of PL survival for 4 seasons. Edited by Willo (03 Jan 2021 8.27pm)

I would very much doubt we are looking for a new manager right now. If Parrish was a fisherman he would undoubtedly favour still water lakes over rivers.

I'm confused by people saying we got lucky against Sheffield Utd? We won because we worked hard and took our chances. Sheffield Utd created one proper chance which they hit straight at Ward. How is that lucky? There are games where I would have agreed with the sentiment, like possibly Spurs, or maybe even Leicester, but not Saturday. We didn't play the most eye-catching football but from the fourth minute to the last minute the result never seemed in doubt and the team worked incredibly hard for it. Having said all that, I do think our squad is one of the weakest out of all the established PL sides once you take out Wilf and Eze and that has shown when we have played these teams. Aside from the surprising early-doors wins against Southampton and Man Utd (both of which looked half asleep to be fair) all of our wins have come against teams promoted last year or this year. This has always been Roy's strength, ensuring we get results against teams in the bottom half and it should be enough to see us safe if that pattern continues. However, I still maintain that whomever is in charge next season we will not climb above 12th without investment in the squad. The only other established PL club which continues to spend at a similar level is Burnley and they have just been taken over by someone promising to invest. Roy's investment to points ratio is probably only matched by Burnley, so that should be a worrying sign.

He would most certainly dust off and pack his old bamboo rod and feather float as they have served him well and were good enough to catch roach and rudd 20-years ago, rather than any of the fancy carbon fibre rods, lightweight reels and bite alarms that are all the rage in the quest to land monster carp these days.

Why would anyone want Roy out when he's won every single match this year?
