Thought things might have turned, but he still looks shot of confidence.

This will go down as the worst investment in our history. He's in the last year of his contract - are we going to renew those £120k p/w wages for more donkey performances, or are we going to let a £27 million+ investment go for free after 3 seasons?

Think it's called cutting your losses

I think that’s why the club keep playing him in the hope he comes good so he keeps his value Agree with above cut loses .Really think he has lost it mentally .There is no commitment which is a worry too

I would have thought it were worth trying a different way of attacking them using Ayew than just doing the same stuff with a different centre-forward. Van Dyck was dealing with Benteke most of the time and it didn't look like fresh legs would get more change out of him. Unfortunately once Salah had managed to get t***-face to send Wan-Bissaka off we had to sacrifice a forward to stay in it, but nevertheless we kept them under pressure until the end.

Given the likelihood that they would score on the break from that final corner perhaps we should have sent Hennessey into their box? Even at £75m van Dyck can only deal with one big bloke at a time.

The distance he was off his line when they crossed the halfway line, I thought he had been up for the corner.

Benteke was up against the most expensive defender in the world and we didn't exactly give him many decent balls to get hold of.

Personally I actually thought he did ok in most of the aerial contests he had but struggled more with the easier chances he had.

I am amazed though with how quick some seem to lay blame. Was Benteke good today? No. Do we need a thread to just spew vitriol? No.

Not just tonight, he will always be up against top defenders in the premiership. The truth is he has been rubbish for a long time and his body language is all wrong he has lots of time and chances more than he should have got , but feel club trying to justify fee and wages . Can’t believe he is nearly on same as Wilf .

Benteke is going to have a great season.

I predict 1 goal in just over every 2 games, and a real threat in terms of how he plays. thought he was fine tonight apart from that shot.
