Remind me how many times that has happened in (say) the last three seasons?

Wilf hasn't played under Glasner, he played under the human equivalent of the place where horses go to drown.

Want to add we probably should looking at younger options but I can only comment on the threads in front me.

would be madness to resign Wilf. We've moved past him. If he can't do it for Galatasaray he won't cut it in the Prem. Let's preserve his hero status rather than watching a past-it player ruin their own legacy.

Only way this works for me is if we get rid of Edoaurd and he takes his slot. In that instance he'd be an upgrade. Otherwise I'd much rather Sarr, Kamada and Franca get a chance.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I didn't mean "how many times did Wilf come off the bench...", rather I was questioning the perennial myth of the Palace player who "comes off the bench" to rescue an impossible situation. It very rarely happens (surely).

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I reckon this is a Parish/Freedman desire and they are selling it to Glasner as just a one year loan and as useful backup to both Mateta - if they get a decent offer for hom - and a emergency stand in if Eze gats swept up on the last day of the season and it is too late to replace him: the latter may suggest some concerns about Franca's long-term fitness as well
I watched a few Galatasary games. He played exclusively on the left-wing and he had clearly lost the ability to go past defenders lesser than he would come up against in the Premier League. I think we dodged a bullet when he rejected the terms available last time out and can only see disharmony in the camp if he does come back

It's about the money and Wilf's attitude.

I'd say £50K pw would be the absolute max I'd pay him.

He'd have to realise he's no longer the main man and accept that for many games he'd be a sub.

Can't see it happening.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I wouldn't take him back for all the reasons already mentioned several times in the thread.
However, you have to consider something about his performance at Gala: In the league there, 90% of the games it doesn't matter if he plays, because Gala is vastly superior to practically everyone. And it doesn't matter whether Gala wins 4:0 against some seaside resort club without Wilf or 6:0 with Wilf. Since it is rumoured that the Turks prefer to see Turks playing for their teams, he may not have been in Gala's starting 11 so often. If he then reacted with offence and made it clear that he was always better than anybody, I'm not surprised that he is where he is now. The belief that he would become a superstar there was probably an illusion right from the start.

I agree with you but again Hodgson set his teams up to lose by the least amount of goals possible,
It's not an environment for any flair player to flourish in.
