He reminds me of Ray Wilkins only more attack minded. It's a pity that Wharton and Eze didn't start . The first half was a dull, pedestrian training session. Only Eze put in a shift. Knew he was to be given the hook at 60 minutes so gave it is all. One wonders why the other 4 - who also knew they were to make way - were not equally inclined? Whichever of Eze or Grealish make the plane, they are likely to be bench warmers. I just think Eze offers that bit of difference. And one is currently on fire while the other is not. Wharton should also go. The only issue I have with him is he does not seem linked to the rest of the squad. Like a little boy hovering around the fringes waiting for permission from the bigger lads to join in. That'll come with time and even more confidence.

Whether Eze goes probably depends on whether GS wants like-for-like replacements for Saka, Foden and Bellingham to come on when they're tired/injured, or whether he wants an alternative. Wharton looks like he's ready, which is mad. Within a few minutes his teammates realised they could trust him and he got a lot of the ball, a lot of which is due to his ability to find space. He has a lot of intelligence to his game. If he did go I doubt he'd get more than a few cameos at most, but what an experience for the lad it would be. Guehi looked like a player who hasn't played much of late with a couple of really bad misplaced passes. I sometimes think he doesn't have as much confidence in his ability as he should. He did produce one cracking through-ball though which could have got him an assist.

With Glasner, the onus for me has shifted away from the players/individuals and more toward our general style of play when it comes to my confidence in the team. The thought of one or two being in or out is not the be all and end all, the system matters more and has far greater impact upon that we see on the pitch. It still feels fleeting to me but I am extremely grateful for us having Glasner at the club and will appreciate it for as long as he is here. I empathise fully with the Frankfurt fans now and understand why they still love him so. Nick, I agree with your comments about Glasner. In a short space of time he has made seismic changes to the way we play the game. His continued time at our club is vital to the success we all crave for. We must hope Mr Parish can keep him and that he doesn't seek glory elsewhere, as Maresca has done by leaving Leicester in the lurch and heading for Chelsea. As for last night's game, I believe Eze did enough with his gliding runs to earn a place on the plane, but Wharton will have to wait despite glowing reports in the papers. His ability is noted, but he will be told his time will come, so keep doing what you're doing son. Not sure about Guehi, he didn't look relaxed last night and made a reckless challenge which earnt a yellow card. Personally, I won't be sorry if he leaves Palace for pastures new
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Eze should definitely go ahead of either Madison or Grealish as he offers something different. Wharton should go as cover for Rice but I think this tournament may have come six months early for him.An argument in his favour is no-one stands out as being better in his position. Henderson will go but likely be third choice so won’t see the pitch. Guehi is returning from injury and struggled a bit last night. I think he will go but will have limited pitch opportunities unless Southgate sees more in training. Just my opinion, but that’s the way I see it.

I'd be very happy for Marc to stay however if he has his sights set on 'more' than Palace then him ending up staying doesn't sit well with me. I'd equally suggest his departure would not be anywhere near as catastrophic for us as it may have been previously. I'd have faith in Glasner, the Doug and all others to replace him with someone who wants to be here but also... kerrching (hopefully)!! I have a feeling Wharton has a very bright future and may follow the same route in being coveted and therefore teased away but let's hope he stays for now. I'm confident in saying I've never been so optimistic as a Palace fan. Good times ahead.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Have to agree, if I had to choose one of our top players to go and we could keep the rest, I’d definitely sacrifice Guehi, we coped well without him with the three at the back and Chris Richards was excellent. I never thought I’d be saying that about Richards a few months ago. Clyne also was decent in the back three.

Richard’s now looks everything I hoped he would be and Clyne went from a past it RB, seeing out his time at his little local club to looking every bit a quality and integral part of our defence. That’s Glasner, for me anyway.

Absolute rubbish, Eze is and has been the best English player for 18 months, it is not his fault he has had crap managers, in two years he will be, as i have bored everyone about he will be in the top 5 players in the world.
