3 weeks break now. A pundit on the telly was saying that there is a good chance that Olise could be available on our return from international break. Does anybody know if this is true? If so that’s a massive boost.

That said, this Eason I think doucoure has been a bigger miss. The barrier he provides in front of the back line has been really missed.

I though Ahamada was definitely fouled for the goal, almost an arm around the throat kind of foul -
but if someone said to me: What does Ahamada bring to the team ?
or What is Ahamada,s best position,

I wouldnt have an answer for either question.

Seen a few people on here moaning about Mitchell’s performance today. I actually thought he played well and looked better today than he has recently? If anyone is to blame for the goal it’s ahamada who lost the ball whilst we were attacking. Certainly wasn’t a foul, just bad control. I’m yet to be impressed with him whenever he comes on. Still don’t understand why Wharton went off as he didn’t look tired to me and nor did he last week at Spurs. Our midfield was so much weaker when Wharton and Ayew went off today and until we get better players on the bench results like today and last week when we were one up will continue to happen. Thank goodness they didn’t equalise in the 80th minute otherwise we would be looking at a defeat. With all that said we should stay up, especially if Everton and Forrest lose additional points. I am optimistic that our new manager will make us a much better team and next season we will win games that we are presently losing because our squad is so weak presently. Let’s hope we stay up as exciting times could just be ahead :-)

I am with you, you can see the change in formation that Glasner is going to implement, we where in a different class to Luton, the second goal would have led to more, a full pre season with Glasner and 3/4 in and 5/6 out and then we can judge him, the passing was crisp, but Doucoure and Olise are massive misses, we will not go down, 5/6 points and all is good, Mitchell isn't playing at LB anymore, its a different role and for my money did OK

I disagree - thought Mitchell was poor again today - he’s OKish as a left back - but a LWB he is not - poor in possession, positioning and general distribution.

If I were Ollie - this position would be one of my first priorities to resolve come the summer..!!

One of the options I would definitely consider is the LWB who played against us today - Doughty

Eze looked completely off the pace today. A few nice link up touches and a great effort in the second half which was so unfortunate not to go in but other than that he was well below par and his tracking back with purpose was non existent.

I understand he is coming back from injury and may be reluctant to give it everything just yet but his lack of tackling and getting stuck in was very evident today and we needed more from him in that respect.

OG in his post match interview commented on the lack of pressure on the ball for their goal so I suspect he will point that out to Eze when they review the game. It’s not acceptable to say he’s excused defensive duties because he does great things with the ball. If he’s seriously on Pep’s wish list he won’t get into the team until or unless he works his socks off and I suspect Glasner has a similar attitude.

I think the attacks on Mitchell are harsh , Luton were double teaming on him in the second half and he had no support a lot of the time leaving him exposed. I thought we were very entertaining today which was a change from the last few seasons ,we were pushing for a second even in injury time. Our main crime was not finishing the game off with a second. What i also cant understand is our lack of not being able to score scrappy goals or tap ins from a yard, even todays goal was a bit of a worldy from JP with a back heel , then you had the 40 yarder from Eze , yet when the balls are put into the danger areas for a tap in there is not a forward in sight

I watched Ipswich in the week, there left back/lwb Davis, looked really good. If they don’t come up he could be a punt.

That said you would like to think OG and DF will know who there targets are. Non of us knew who Munoz was. There is probably a LWB on there radar already.

what got us today was a lack of clinical finishing. We had a ton of chances.....and failed to convert them.

Luton scoring at the end would have been merely academic had we been better in attack. Our attacking performances are not good enough for the Premier League.

do not crucify our Defenders, they did well for 95 minutes. Our attackers....not so much.

1) Subbing off Ayew and Wharton cost us dearly. Their ability to hold the ball (and Ayew's ability to draw time-killing fouls) would have made the difference. Hughes was useful when he played regularly, but lately he has been a liability.

2) Why were there 6 minutes of added time in the 2nd half? I don't recall any significant stoppages.

3) Referee was generally balanced, but he overlooked 2-3 fouls in the final minute. He also allowed excessive shirt-pulling (both sides)throughout the match. His foul call on Ayew's scoring chance was absurd, though from his angle it might have appeared "logical."

4) We missed at least 5 easy chances, Luton only 1 or 2.

5) I may be in the minority, but I have no criticism of Mitchell's game. And I think he suits the new position well. For those who marvel that he earned a spot in the England squad, as I recall he was leading the Premier League in number of 1 v 1 wins at the time.

6) Wharton and Munoz were brilliant signings. Well done, all!

7) Although Johnstone is clearly better than Henderson, I doubt Sam would have won any of the games we lost w/ Henderson. But Henderson could have cost us the game today, if he'd been in goal.

Set pieces look much better on both ends. What a relief.

1) They were bothknackered had to come off. Our strength in depth is the problem as is the players fitness levels
2) I do not know when he only played only 4 minutes in first half when there was a long injury delay
3) thought he started ok but got progressively worse. For all the fouls he was calling how he didn’t give the one o Ahamadajust before the goal I do not know. The Ayew incident was not a foul, should have played on and relied on VAR had we scored. Perhaps signing autographs at half time went to his head
4) Yes
5) Mitchell has a lot of work to do to become a wing back
6) Yes
7) Dont agree they only had 1 shot on target before the goal, why could Henderson have cost us the game?
Agreed

I've noticed this with him when he has returned form injury in the past. He takes a few games to get up to speed. Perhaps he is anxious he is going to have a relapse. In fact when he came back from that long absence through injury in his first season with us he was below par for quite a long time.

Yep, as I thought, blatant foul on Ahamada that wasn’t given by the useless referee. The Luton player pulled him back with both hands and clearly impeded him. The referee penalised us a number of times with some bizarre decisions, especially in the second half, yet he misses that one (or lets it go). Not good enough!
