This is just in from the 'Standard' & if true, will cause a big debate among fans & on here.

May do eagleman, but be careful as posting such articles is what got the dozen others before you banned!

All jokes aside, we are somewhat low in numbers anyway. Even if we did bring in say 5/6 players we'd still probably need a few renewals.

The club may also be considering if there is any value to these players? Others may argue not however Glasner may see their potential within his system (Hughes and Clyne renaissances as an example) and club may see a few pound notes they're not willing to relinquish under any circumstances (though you could argue wages etc.).

Tomkins and Ferguson are the two I really fail to understand. Tomkins could have retired a few years ago (still noting I thought he was a good signing and player for us) and Ferguson I have the feeling has rumbled on too long for the club to give up now without feeling even more ridiculous. Ward and Jairo OK I suppose, Clyne definitely, Matthews fair enough.

We may be losing players before we bring in any so I'll choose to believe in some method behind any perceived madness! COYP.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I know this is becoming a bit of an old chestnut, but what would be wrong with keeping him on, outside the squad numbers at say £200k p.a. for another season or two to see if he can be repaired. Maybe send him off to some escape in the swiss mountains and see what they could do with him? By all accounts, he was quite a talent.

All, i hope is, that if we do keep him & it would have to be on a very low wage, is that he is NOT named in the 25 squad, he is nearly 24, we have had him for nigh on 5 years, but, this has all been said before.

It's being reported that Ward's 25 appearances this season have triggered a one year contract extension.
Similarly, Hughes also has a one year extension.
I understand the club has an option to extend Schlupp's contract by a year and I could see this being exercised.
Tomkins, Ferguson,Clyne and Riedewald seem the most likely to depart, but only Tomkins looks certain to leave.
Recent form would make a case for Clyne to remain, but this would depend upon who else leaves/joins.

We will need 22 players next season and both Joel and Will have done enough to merit another 12 months.

Jairo Riedewald (27) Let go

So it looks like Ward and Hughes staying, I wonder if Clyne and Jeff will be offered one?

From what Im reading, departing this summer, it could be Guehi almost certainly, Olise probably, Eze maybe and Edouard probably. Plus two or three out of contract players.
If this happens we are going to be c.£150m + in pocket.
I really hope we hang on to Eze. I would also like one more season of Olise, but probs best to go with the outward flow.
With Glasner and Dougie we will undoubtedly have some exciting incomers.

Schlupp has already triggered a new one year contract heard the other day.

As ME alluded to on the Freedman thread, it's looking more & more he won't be here next season. He has made the final 3 in the interview process by Newcastle.

I suppose we are moving into being a more transient club, like all the top ones. No one seems to hang around for long anymore.
