This was a loss at home to a team that was below us in the table and it is simply not acceptable if we want to continue to progress in this league. It does not matter how well we may have played we lost the game and that highlights our weakness in defending high balls in to the box and our weaknesses in attack.

Any capable opposition manager will have realised by now that the route to our goal is past our distinctly lack lustre full backs and via crosses which our centre halves don't defend effectively. It's a real problem for Hodgson from a tactical viewpoint.

As has been said many times before: We are suffering for not buying a striker in the transfer window.

There have been many instances of a relative cheap buy from the Championship paying off

Instead it seems we gambled on one or two fairly expensive strikers from Europe that didn't materialise.

Like Mr Hodgson's tactics - no Plan B !

What is this mysterious Plan B? If a manager makes a or any number of subs, then its a change from Plan A.

Cannot wait for season to be over already. Hodgson sucks the life out of me. Appointment made no sense except to stay up and the football is incredibly boring. We never beat Everton, except under Vieira. It is 15th or 16th this season at best. What a complete waste of a season.

If that comment relates to yesterday, I can hardly believe you said it. I thought it was one of the most entertaining (Palace) games I've seen in months.

Ward was perhaps caught flat footed for the first goal, but the other two goals were down to the midfield. First Lerma fails to push up meaning Doucoure is onside for Everton's second, and then Hughes switches off and doesn't track Gueye for the third.

Everton were very efficient with their chances but it's also worth mentioning that their form of late has been good. This is not the Everton of the start of the season. The early goal set the tone and it was a highly entertaining game. Compared to Spuds where we sat off them and did nothing we at least tried to push. Once Olise and Eze are fully fit we are going to be a different beast.

I find it difficult to align "we played well" to the simple fact that we conceded 3 goals and lost, and 3 sloppy goals at that. Congratulations to Dyche for the tactical smarts to get players forward in numbers in the opening minute, surely a deliberate decision to ruffle Roy's preference for the 0-0 until half time schtick.
Doucoure's absence and the ensuing defensive display illustrates just how much his presence is missed.

I for one never departed Selhurst Park feeling I had been "Entertained", I exited sullen faced and at my splenetic worst after a defeat and mulling over the fact that we had won only 1 of our 6 home games and lost 3 out of our last 4 games.

Anyone defending Edouard on here has not a clue about how a decent striker should play. He can’t pass the ball, he can’t hold it up, he’s slow when it’s at his feet, he’s useless in the air, he doesn’t read the offside line well, he loses it way too often when in possession. It’s also pointless saying he doesn’t get the correct supply because most of the time he’s stood in the wrong place anyway. At times he makes Benteke look like he was athletic.

The only problem is, despite that, he’s still better than Mateta. So the only choice until we put our hands in our pockets is to play Ayew at CF which is a possibility now both Eze and Olise are back.

You can tell when Roy is perturbed, when he sits there silently, rubbing his chin. Fortress Selhurst Park is but a pipe dream at present.

We have only won 1 of our 6 home games this season.
I believe we only won 6 out of 19 home games in each of the previous 2 seasons.
Suffering Season-Ticket holders with a number totally disgruntled.

No I want someone who makes and picks a team from the best available resources- Roy didn’t do that today, he played his favourites and it backfired..!!

It’s that simple - surely you can see that..!!

Olise was fit - why not play him from the start - why wait - we’ve been crying out for his return all season..!!

If Decoure is fit enough for the bench then play him - why play a sub standard Hughes..!!

Just doesn’t make sense..!!

No I don't see either of your statements as being correct.
1. Doucoure came off with a hamstring issue against Burnley and only trained on Friday. Roy sensibly didn't want to start him.
2. There is a big difference between being fit and match fit. Olise may well have been fit but not having played at all this season was unlikely to have been match fit. When players have been out for that long you don't suddenly start them and expect them to perform.
3. For those who want Richards at RB, he's played there for us and didn't convince.
4. Franca still isn't ready. I expect he will be at some point later in the season but not this side of the New Year IMO.

Hodgson started what he considered (and I tend to agree) was his best XI given the circumstances. One might genuinely debate whether Clyne should have played instead of Ward, but other than that, I really don't see who else Hodgson could have started with.

It was the starting XI I expected and was happy with given the limitations.

Edouard isn't the type of player you are expecting, hardly. And yet he's our top scorer, funny that.
Here he is on the chart, about right, given our league position. Should we acquire a forward with the qualities that you espouse then we can compare the difference that player would make to the overall contribution.
Haaland has only scored 11 so far, and he plays for the best team in the country...

Evan Ferguson the current Brighton next big player has same stats as Edouard.
