You know, if someone came to the club with a billion in the bank and said "Parish, get out and don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way" and that person had the club's best interests at heart, I'd be the first one there waving Parish off. Thing is that I don't think Parish is the problem. The yanks aren't up for owning a club outright, they're purely in it for the money and the thought of being outright owners I've no doubt repulses them. So that leaves Textor and the bottom line is that I just don't trust him. A really quick Google search doesn't shine him in the best light with his approach to multi-club ownership, the way he treats those at the club, and the way he runs the club. For example: Lyon - Currently under sanctions from the French Football Federation and having to sell up their better players on the cheap due to the way the club's been run financially. Botafogo - Textor receiving death threats and fan protests after selling off one of their best players to, incidentally, Lyon. Molenbeek - Sacks entire management team five days before the season starts and it emerges that he put pressure on the coaches to play certain players or he'd start breaking contracts. And this article from the FT.com, that explains that Textor's business model is to get young players and then sell them off for profit, thereby generating more money for the investors, not necessarily the club (if it's in the FT, then it's not aimed at the likes of us is it?). So do you feel happy with this person having a controlling interest in the team? I don't think it would be a leap of imagination to see him selling off Palace players to make money to keep Lyon afloat and then suddenly our fortunes are intertwined with teams in other leagues, in other countries, how they are doing on the pitch, and more importantly, financially. If Parish has spotted this (and I'm not a canny businessman nor a millionaire and I can spot it) then this is probably why he's being a pain in the backside to Textor and not letting him have his own way. Can't see Textor working to keep Olise, Eze, Doucouré, or Guéhi in the last transfer window with his mindset, let alone offering Wilf a lucrative deal to stay. So whilst you might think people are sucking Parish's c*** on here, perhaps it's better than the devil's tit... Great post. No smoke without fire and all

That's a fair point Eaglecoops and if we have someone lined up and in budget, then I'd like to know why we didn't land that player. It is odd as we got Lerma in before I think the transfer window had opened, Franca early August, with the likes of Henderson and Holding joining just before the window shut, so what happened with Ekitike? Be interesting to see if we go for him in January. With Hall, we had the loan deal lined up and pretty much a done deal until Newcastle showed interest. Being that Hall has been a Newcastle supporter since childhood, I'm not surprised he chose them over us really. I guess we are either unlucky that these deals fall apart, or we don’t fully understand what the barriers to the transfer happening are and get complacent whilst we are negotiating, or we leave it so late that any issue means there is no time for a plan B. Of course we may not have a plan B at all and are just hoping that plan A works. Who knows, as we aren’t pulling the strings. All I do know is this is not the first time this has happened. Ekitike is supposedly available in January however we don’t like doing business then but may be forced into it this season.

Look at Parish, he won’t even buy himself enough food to eat he’s so tight! He’s not as financially astute as he thinks and he’s made this very promising squad a joke.

In all honesty we really don't need another mediocre Arsenal reject.

TBF to Textor since the above article was written they are leading the league y 7 points and fans are loving it. However just seen that their manager of 3 months Bruno Lage ( ex Wolves) has just been sacke after 3 losses and 1 draw in the last 4 games.

The thing that's frustrating is that there are some deals that you can afford to leave late/play the game e.g Holding. Good signing for that money, but is going to have slim to little impact on our season. But given our squad there has to be priority signings, that we cant afford to leave until the last day. In this case you need to play it safer or have a bunch of plan Bs ready to go. It feels like the word out of the club is 'ahh its frustrating, they fell apart on the last day we just couldn't get that one done'. Which I'm sure is true, but not really good enough.

A year or two in the championship would do some of our fans the world of good.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
