You think the club have spent £25m on a player that, in the second half of his debut season, they expect to be behind Rak-Sakyi, who is behind Ayew, who is behind Olise, in the pecking order?

Even if we were to say they're even, Rak-Sakyi is the one that would go out on loan. Rak-Sakyi is the one who knows how the team plays, is settled in England, and really needs volume of game time. Franca is the one who needs to get used to the club, his teammates and the intensity of training and games in the Premier League and they're not going to achieve that by sending him to Bristol City for 6 months.

What you are all ignoring is our biggest curse.....injuries.
With 11 first team squad being repaired, it would be foolhardy to send Saki out on loan.

Anyway, I believe he needs a big push, plenty of encouragement and someone getting him to believe in himself. The talent is there. There were plenty of signs v Forest that he can deliver. He just needs a big push to fire up the motors and we will have a star on our hands. Two goals in one game will change everyone's thinking. He needs to deliver. The time is now.

C'mon Saki, you know you can do it. Go for it. Reach for the stars.

Do you want to give him a chance, like Zaha, Moses, Mitchell. Or, do you want him to dissappear into another league? Back the lad, sink or swim, or would you rather have us pay for an expensive 'has-been'

The club have a responsibility to harvest his potential and that is not going to be achieved by sitting him on the bench just to make up the numbers with the odd cameo appearance for a few minutes in games here and there. He clearly has potential otherwise he would not be where he is but he needs to have regular game time for example to sharpen the skills coaches can't give him and that is for example things like match craft and playing experience. putting him out at EPL level before he is ready may destroy him as he will not get the space or time that he has been used to in the U21 or out in league two. He needs a run in the championship to earn his spurs and build confidence. I am not asking for him to disappear all I want for him is for his progression to be carefully managed in a positive way that allows him to progress to EPL level. Rush him before he is ready and that could ruin him.

Thank you Den1923, you want him out, go somewhere else, doesn't matter where, as long as its not CPFC. That is my understanding of your post.

Pity our other 'prospects' from the Academy.

I really do not know what you are talking about, its quite normal for younger players of EPL clubs to go out on loan to hone their skills in order that they then return with match skills earned in the championship, so that the step up to EPL playing conditions is much easier for them!

I agree with what you say, he is not really ready for the EPL and needs to have a run in the championship to sharpen up his match skills and improve his physicality. Whilst I wish him well it going to hard to to this, by keeping the bench warm each week for a few minutes here and there. According to research, the odds are not really in his favour as only 30% of all academy players who get handed a professional contract, of that latter group 1-10 then go on to make more than 20 appearances at all tiers of full time English professional football. It's a tough call and I wish him the best of luck!

With his performances for Charlton he demonstrated that he is already good enough to be a professional footballer. The question is at what level?

We saw enough from him at the weekend to say that it still could be this level.

I don't think he is the finished article, but I do think that this team is solid and disciplined enough to give him half a chance of succeeding. (Lets be honest he's not going to have to slot in for ward when he bombs forward!).

Call me crazy, but if he'd been in Mateta's boots throughout the past 18 months, I think Jes would have earned more EPL goals and assists than JPP has. And been at least his equal as a defender.

Seriously, when have we seen JPP show the skill on the ball that Jes did in 50 minutes last Saturday? And, given the opportunity, that skill equates to finishing.

Exactly, and just like Olise/Eze who both proved themselves in the championship before moving up a level and it it would also be good for JSR to go out on lone to get that experience so that he can hopefully the move up to EPL level and enjoy a long and happy career at the elite level of world football with Crystal Palace!

I know we beat Lyon in a friendly, but world domination might take a bit longer

I think Rak-Sakyi is in a position where he was built up to impossibly high standards a few years ago and, understandably, is struggling to meet them.

It's also very difficult to live up to the natural comparisons to Zaha, who was given opportunities in a lower division at a time when the club were struggling.

He showed signs of being able to perform at this level on Saturday but clearly doesn't get in the team at the moment when Olise is back, so sending him on loan to the Championship in the second half of the season seems very sensible to me.

I think we need to build to a point where he is ready to step in when Olise goes, whether that's next summer or the one after.

There were quite a few on these boards who said Wilf wasn't good enough and had no end product and some who proposed selling him for a pretty low fee, even after he returned from United. Wilf always believed in himself, bulked up and proved all the doubters wrong. JRS can do that too, but it's not going to happen overnight. At this stage he is going to be inconsistent and we have to be patient. The problem in the PL is that patience is not something most clubs have the luxury of, hence why a lot of youngsters head to the lower leagues to earn their stripes. If the injury crisis persists then he'll get more chances by virtue of a lack of options with us but it is important, I think, that he is neither hailed as a messiah nor written off based on the performances he does make. There are far more tricky wingers who end up failing to fulfil on early promise than those who make it. The key is proving you are more than a show pony.

Good post. He has proven himself in Div 1 (quite an achievement when he was only 19 when the loan started) and Championship teams are clearly interested.
He will have a good professional career and even in the Championship will probably become a millionaire.
Can he make the step up to Prem level? Probably not today, but if he keeps developing i think he can. He did enough on Saturday to show to show he has the potential. Clearly we all want him to succeed.
