This started many years ago and one of them was Keane when he transferred from Nottm Forest and Clough said afterwards he would pay another £100k on top of the £1.5m paid by them. This will continue until the people in control do something about it. It's a strange one isn't it. I'd love to keep Olise, I'm a huge fan of his, massive. My proverbial jury was out for a little while but I think he's utter class and has additional elements to his game that go unnoticed sometimes. It's one of those conundrums whereby you have to consider us cashing in on a player inevitably leaving, albeit weakening the team, or keep a vice like grip on a player who won't perform to his peak as he's unhappy, potentially disrupts the squad/morale and then leaves without the financial reward that might of been for the club. You only hope there's far more behind the scenes and it's managed intelligently. He doesn't strike me as the type to act in a vindictive, dismissive or ungrateful way toward Palace, he's just very focused on what he himself wants to achieve. That will inevitably include winning trophies and earning more money, so he will have to play elsewhere to achieve that. Unfortunate but the reality for us.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It was a risk worth taking at the time and who knows, in the unlikely event his body ever allows him to play PL football he may yet prove to be a bargain.

Agreed! As far as I’m concerned , if none of them care they can all f*** off and rebuild . I only want players at our club who want to play for us. I loved it in the lower leagues. I hope this is sarcasm.

Apparently, the club have been trying since October to offer him a new contract which would include removal of this clause.

Yet another reason why it’s all bull. I reckon they are pulling our chain here and trying to unsettle both the player and the club. You can never say never, but 90% it’s as you say. Not just on Olise either.

Being pedantic - How can you say it was a risk worth taking at the time . He injured and has been near enough the whole time since we signed him . He more than likely received a signing on fee and his wages since he signed has amassed to a hefty sum with no or very little return .I cant believe im saying this but Conor Wickham gave a better return than him . Parish knew when signed we would have to pay compensation . Nothing in this world is free my friend not even the air we breathe hence the carbon tax .

Nothing suggests Olise isn't perfectly happy to to play for us. He hasn't handed in a transfer request. If you're looking for a squad of players who only want to play for Palace, and aren't interested in moving to Chelsea or City then you might be in for a disappointment. We'll end up with a five a side team if that's the criteria.

Its common knowledge Olise is being mentored in part by Wenger who will be feeding him all sorts of advice.
Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978 |

A bit of gratitude and loyalty to the team that bought you from the lower leagues or lesser teams wouldn't go astray and if there was more of it we would end up with more than " a five aside team " and a team of dedicated players who give their all to pay back something to a club that helped them in their career and develop them into better players and not just f*** off as soon as another club offers them a fiver more per week .

Footballers don't really owe the club anything in terms of loyalty. If they weren't performing or weren't making the cut, they'd be on the chopping block. Every footballer wants to play on the biggest stage and if there is the opportunity to do so, they will take it because of their ambition.
