I thought I saw Everton are getting another striker now? That would make them less likely to sign Adams perhaps.

Indeed they have, Beto from Udenise that is their second striker signing so I think they will be done for this window. Meanwhile Southampton have just sold Tella to Leverkusen so I am not sure where that leaves them with strikers? Adams may not be going anywhere. Edited by Badger11 (28 Aug 2023 7.39am)

I really don’t think he is the answer to our lack of goals / firepower. I hope we are not pursuing this one.

It certainly would be embarrassing if we buy Adams after even Everton drop pursuit of him. I laughed when I heard a price take of £15m was mentioned.

Liverpool yesterday was a great example of what a finisher can do. Nunez had two half chances and took them both. If that had been Ayew or Edouard or Mateta then it would have been bouncing off the pukka pies sign or being caught by fans in the upper holmesdale (pukka pies an elderly reference but I think you get my drift). I appreciate we can’t afford a Nunez but I’m sure there is an out and out finisher out there that we can afford. We’ve got enough hard working triers so I’d gladly take a less dynamic player who knocks in a goal every other game.

Ayew is knocking on a bit, I was thinking Che Adams would replace him next season. As for the knock 'em in for fun striker this will be a long running saga, they cost a lot of money and Parish will not spend any where near enough. As we will ALWAYS be short of talent, sleeves rolled up Ayews fit our budget.

Thats what £80m gets you, but he hasnt been that prolific since he joined Liverpool. Every other game, thats a 20 goal a season player, even Nunez at £80m isnt that, you appear to wish for the impossible.

The season Ayew played up front he scored 9 in 30 games (not including the last 8 poor games Palace had after B'mouth away in covid) and got player of the year. He is so underated!

Arsenal goals come from across the forward line, that’s wishful thinking as well maybe , but we would be winning the lottery to find a 20 goal striker. So we need more not just from Edourdo, but from everybody, and any coming in, in the manner of Arsenal. As for Ayew, who fed Edourdo, in early , then fed Andersen for his goal,? Given his work rate if that fella had goals he wouldn’t be at Palace now.
