I watched the game on a stream and thought Olise's goal was a goal of the month contender.

Then I read the report here, and on the BBC, which both say it was deflected.

I have watched it back several times and I don't see any deflection at all. It might just have brushed a defender but there was no deviation at all.

He has tried the same shot several times and got close but today got right. The bend he gets is terrific and a nightmare for keepers. So I don't think he just fooled the goalkeeper. He has confused some of the commentators too.

Did anyone else see a deflection? If so I must book a visit to Specsavers!

I think there was a deflection which made the difference. Likewise I didn't initially spot it. Great move though.

But it's uncanny how reminiscent it was of the Everton FA Cup goal. Definitely his special move.

When he scored I actually put up a post on Facebook saying that was probably an early contender for Goal of the Season so farbut apart from that I agree with your summary, I saw no deflection.

Clear deflection which made it loop into the net. Not complaining though!

A clear and obvious deflection which could almost have been given as an own goal if it hadn't already been on target. Book yourself an eye test.

From being just behind the fanatics I saw what looked like a deflection.the ball looked to spin. But on tv looked like there was no deflection.

But I actually was more stunned by the quietness within the crowd throughout the game.Truly amazing that West Ham are winning in that department for 97 mins.

What must they think of Palace I wonder 🤣🤣

Deflection or not, we have waiting a while for a proper beaming smile from Michael Olise. His happiness at clinching all three points for us is possibly my favourite moment yesterday.

Further to Antonio's theatrics, every time Bowen was tackled he went down in such 'agony' that the commentators waffled about him losing his place in the World Cup squad.

It took a deflection on its way, but he tried the same thing 10 minutes earlier and it had the keeper scrambling. It doesn’t matter if it’s cross or an attempt at goal, it’s a nightmare to defend against.

Big deflection which created the topspin and loop. Do we care? - No. COYP

My brother in law and his two sons have always been season ticket holders at West Ham and I've been invited to 'go amongst them' on multiple occasions. I'm always unimpressed by the constant malcontent of their supporters ... they moan incessantly whatever the situation. I bet they had something to say yesterday!

If de Bruyne had done it the commentators would've been lauding his genius at using the defender to create a deflection.
