You may not like him but he has summed it up for most of here: Some players have spoken since Thursday, including Troy Deeney, who defended Patrick Vieira: “ If you know Vieira as a player and as a man, he’s not going to let anyone physically touch him or insult him without doing anything in return. We all remember the iconic photos of him and Roy Keane. If he’s not afraid of Keane, he won’t be afraid of an old veteran who would rush at him to insult him. The reactions online were that Vieira got in trouble, but why didn’t we get the fan insulting him. Players and managers are meant to be role models, but they are also human beings. In normal life, if someone pushes you down the street, chances are you will react. Vieira is no different, regardless of how much money he earns or what sport he plays. We’re in a weird space right now where the victim is seen as the problem, more than the person who is actually the problem. » I would agree with him. Vieira should not be subject to any sanction here and acted as any self respecting man would. I would agree up until that last section. The 'victim' word is often misused and hyperbolic, also rather than being seen as the source of the problem victimhood is celebrated and rewarded.....hence Troy's urge to portray Patrick as one.

I think you take his use of the word too literally. He means PV was the victim of a verbal assault, which he was, and not a 'victim' by, for example, hearing the n word on an old sit com.

I don't want to detract from our agreement on the main issue. I not someone who thinks pitch invasions at times like that should be treated harshly....as annoying as our second half performance was and the result I also remember the joy after beating Burnley in 79.....context does matter. However if the officials and players can't be protected from the morons perhaps something needs to be done. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 May 2022 12.32pm)

Have a read. The official Everton site celebrating the achievements of the players, fans and manager, when in reality they should all hang their heads in shame and the club should be punished for the last few games and financial cheating. Everyone including the FA and premier league knew what would happen on Thursday, when Everton, well the cretin who wrote that diarrhoea, have brushed it off as ‘sniping from the sidelines’. No statement from them. If Vieira gets a ban for this and their fans don’t get punished with matches behind closed doors then it even more confirms that football is rigged and possibly corrupt. Everton are a nasty club, who have abused the FFP, I hear Burnley and Leeds have asked the Premier League to investigate and what are they going to do about it, that was on 13th May. Now we have this total disregard for the safety of Palace players and staff, in fact Fat Frank thinks its acceptable. Vieira and staff had to walk right across the pitch, through fans full of alcohol, why Everton couldn't of invited them down the home tunnel, until things had quietened down, shows they couldn't care less.

FA to investigate?? The administration of the game is such a total, utter, leaderless s***show that it's pointless expecting any kind of competent leadership on any issue at all. The idea of the government stepping in and running the national sport is, while abhorrent on one level, arguably better than leaving the clowns that run the game now in place. The FA really is an utterly disgusting institution.

I’ve always found the FA a bunch of spineless skeletons ready to be bribed. If Lampiss was confronted and more by millwall in an FA Cup quarter final he’d probably be crying non stop, after calling them lucky and fluky at every opportunity. Oh and everyone above Everton up to the top 6 are average. Coming from the manager who took Derby from 6th to 6th, Chelsea from 4th to 4th, and Everton from 17th to 17th, or is it 16th? Yep, Everton are out of this mess now for sure. We’ll see. I expect them to struggle unless they fluke some decent signings pr after he’s sacked. Glad he isn’t our manager. Hasn’t served his apprenticeship.

The person taken to hospital because of the flare thrown into the away end is still in hospital, on a heart monitor. They were in hospital on Thursday night, released and then had to go back into hospital. I think the person had some seizures. Let’s hope they are okay. If not, there’s going to be some serious discussions about Everton and Thursday night. Until now it hasn’t been mentioned. It’s now making its way into the public domain. That’s one upside of social media. People rigging the system can’t keep inconvenient details quiet and hidden. Lampard, Everton and any more of their lowlifes should be thinking about that or asked in the next press conference. See whether it’s still funny (really it’s Lampiss adapting to the scummy Everton way as these slippery snakes do… for cash, which surprises, erm, nobody. The premier league heads have been doing it for 30 years) The person in Q? is called Andy Tugwell, there is a seperate thread about him started by Deleagle. I urge everyone go read/comment/help please.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
