Well done on the goal Schlupp, but as a midfielder in the starting line-up, he is simply not good enough. And Vieira still picks him.

Terrible team selection, no striker at home to Burnley ?? Still not convinced by mateta, give edouard a go in the middle, terrible game but probably only need 6 more points, won't go down and can look forward and concentrate on the cup.

While I came away from that game disappointed that we did not get a deserved win, it’s worth noting that none of Norwich, Brentford, Watford or Burnley have managed to beat us. Yes but we have the constantly improving Mitchell and the diamond that is Olise putting balls in the six yard box now. We still haven't found a clinical finisher since Glenn Murray.

No such thing as a comfortable game against Burnley, you obviously don't watch them. This. The cynical fouling, not stamped on by Moss was ridiculous

Unlucky to concede the goal, but we were very lucky Burnley didn't score on their point-blank header. Despite outplaying them, we were also lucky that Burnley didn't take advantage of Andersen's notable wrong-side-of-the-bed day. I think PV was counting on Luka to make a case for more playing time, but he didn't. Given that we needed more of a spark, I'm surprised we didn't see Ayew or Eze. We ought to be winning games like this one, and next season we will.

I thought it was absolute sh1te today. The team selection was a head scratcher but Burnley offered nothing and 1-0 at halftime was ok. There’s no way we were getting away with another 45 minutes of the same and the start to the second half was abysmal. Above all else Luka didnt need to make the slide attempted clearance Please can we sack off the We’ve got super Pat Vieira song it’s crap and is killing any kind of atmosphere.

Tell you what; anyone concerned by how inept our strikers are should take a look at the MOTD highlights of Manure v Watford, as I've just done. ManU couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo or - as Lineker said - "they couldn't finish a prawn sandwich".

I’m with you, and so it proved! Luke his usual inept self, the only time he put the ball forward was into the goal. No target man. Poor formation but improved after the substitutions. Maybe the thinking was that Burnley could handle a so called 'Target man' and having more mobility in forward areas might give them more problems. Overall I believe that 4 pts from Watford and Burnley is a decent return but of course disappointed not to have beaten the latter at home.

This is a correct interpretation of the tactics employed as subsequently confirmed by Vieira. Originally posted by Willo

This.
