I agree.

Although Van De Beek would give us more options we need strengthening elsewhere.

Ward has been a great servant for the club but has been shown vulnerable recently. I was really impressed by McNamara from Millwall when we played them in the FA Cup.

I saw McNamara play for Newport Co, on loan from Millwall back in 2019,Ryan Inniss who was on loan to Newport from us was also in the team.
McNamara was impressive that day.
He is robust, energetic, makes tackles.
He used to be a season-ticket holder at Millwall !

I'm sure PV, SP and DF are well aware of the positions that need strengthening. Unfortunately, you can't simply spirit players out of thin air. They have to be available. Conversely, when a player becomes available in a position that isn't so weak, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get him in. Donny van de Beek is clearly a skilful player but hasn't played enough PL football to form any meaningful judgment BUT if, as is being reported, PV is really keen on him then I trust PV's judgement as one on the best midfielders of the PL era. He presumably sees something eh can work with.

With respect, I was merely responding to a comment made by Wacky who has been impressed by McNamara.
But of course you will always find reason to berate me.

Thought the same. He looked quick and decent tackler. Think he’d be a decent prem right back and an immediate upgrade on Ward or Clyne. Plus would love to steal millwalls best player. His transfer fee would be roughly the sam of the VDB loan fee as well

According to who?

Really hope Lampard accepts the Everton job and pinches him on loan. Number 8 or number 10 are positions we are well stocked. Would much prefer if we focused our attention/ budget on CDM, RB or CB (backup).

Yup my fault for believing what I read.

The positions you identify cannot be cured by loan. They need to be permanent. That means the summer when supply is greater and selling clubs don't have us over a barrel

I was reading that Man Utd want whoever signs to pay his 140K a week wages & a signing on fee?
World class (Loan) signing or not, It's like leasing a 250K Rolls Royce for ten weeks at 25K a week then handing back the keys to the showroom.

So a bloke who has hardly kicked a competitive ball all season will join on loan, earning more than first team regulars. Is that correct? An excellent way of uniting dressing room morale!

Yes exactly . I am not a fan of these types of loan deals as they only serve one purpose only the parent club reaps the rewards . We are fairly well covered in midfeild and i cant see him being the difference between us going down or staying up . What i would do is save the signing on fee and his extortionate wages and put a bid in for Connor in the summer , if Chelsea ar not willing to sell the we will have saved a good pot to find a suitable replacement for him .
