Good performance with a weak side out and a valuable three points to end the year. Hughes is superb and I am very, very excited to see him, Gallagher and McArthur as a midfield three. They'd be so rock solid that I think the defensive work of Ayew would be less vital and we could play two or Eze / Zaha / Olise behind a striker.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Three points very welcome. I fear I will be shot down, but that was our first team defence and I thought we looked very poor defensively against a very weak Norwich team. We have to play far better than that if we are to avoid a relegation scrap this season. On the plus side Hughes, Edouard, Mitchell all looked very good going forward. Much bigger test on Saturday against Wet Spam.

Conor could perhaps be the only change but I got the impression that he may have tested positive for Covid hence his exclusion from the match squad today I definitely don't want to see Zaha waltz his way back into the line-up... Play bench warmer for once in a while Also I'm not Mitchell's biggest fan going forward but I thought he played really excellent in that aspect today. I do wonder now perhaps having Zaha in front of him usually means he lacks the impotence and confidence in the attacking third because he knows he always has to pass to Zaha (or face his wide eyed wrath smh), but I definitely saw a freedom and versatility to his attacking today so well done him

Mitchell's pass to Edouard was one of the plays of the game. The other was Ward's goal line stop. I can say, not sold on Mateta, but I did think he was okay today. Needs to chase down the lost ball, but okay.

I thought Ayew had another excellent game. Tireless running and the ability to buy a free kick when a breather is needed. Shows considerably more skill on occasions than he gets credit for. If only his striking could be improved as much as the rest of his game has been he would be making the headlines. I think we will miss him much more than Wilf during the AFCON. Mitchell too seems to be transforming from a boy to a man. He looks stronger, fitter and much more confident. We need to be careful as someone could easily come poaching.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Watched the game on Amazon prime this afternoon. 1. Can't argue with Hughes being man of the match, thought he was superb. Although Norwich had chances, I thought they were very poor in defending and especially getting caught in possession. They are going down again no question.

3-1 would have been a fairer result today.

Personally do not think he is PL class but took his goal very well
