it depends on what type of person you are, 3 years ago i contracted Bacterial Meningitis, and was in a coma for 12 days and in hospital for a month, and have suffered some brain Damage, so a sedentary life suits me and my wife, but if you want, Theatres, concerts ETC, then no, i can still go on holidays, not beach ones, i am still only 56 years old but retired now

Wow sorry to hear that but you kinda confirmed what I suspected about life in the Canary islands (for me that is). Enjoy your retirement if you can.

I realised that my retirement would be better living in London and travelling the world. In London I spent my time doing the culture thing which when you are away from it you realise just what a great City London is / was (thank you Mayor Khan).

You have the whole of continental Europe to choose from (well, if you have an EU passport now of course) to enjoy living a life of incredible cultural experiences and amazing food. After we moved from the UK and lived in several continental European countries and a couple of island states, we wished we had done it years earlier. The problem with island states for us is that if you want to travel a few times a year, you're effectively trapped by the airport with no other choice and during covid, completely cut off. On the continent you have the choice of flying, driving or taking long distance rail services. Often we just jump in the car or train on a Friday and drive to the neighbouring country for the day or weekend, no need to book flights, Eurotunnel which if course get expensive if you want to go at very short notice plus all of the hassle of security, checkin, delays, crowds etc.

Yup. If I ever did live abroad it would be somewhere like Madrid / Paris / Rome Berlin etc. one of the major European cities.

Don't forget great cities such as Munich, Vienna, Porto, Lisbon, Hamburg, all with a very high quality of life.

Yes but you stated migrants move temporarily, did you mean just migrants to Lanzarote or migrants in general?

I meant in his specific context where he has settled permanently and those he referenced are just passing through, who would also become immigrants once they reach their final destination.

A "man" has stabbed two people in Brentford. Funny that because everyone knows what "a man" means by now.
Why different in these cases than say, Sarah Everard, for example? Perhaps the victims aren't as deserving?

The lady stabbed was lifelong Brentford fan Betty Walsh, her daughter , Betty, said she knew the hero who stepped in to help her and lost his life, his name was AliAbucar Ali.Top man.

That Polish border is the UK border.
I respect the fact they recognise it and enforce it, unlike us.
