There is nothing wrong with ambition but if you are unemployed you may need to lower your sights until such time as your dream job arrives. Too many in this country think this work is beneath them and they have strange bedfellows in that many on the left and most of big business agree with them. There is nothing noble about importing cheap labour.

Looks like remain/leave will dominate for years to come. This was though a state bribe the sort decried by the tories since Thatcher, now they are desperate over a brexit disaster. Without it Nissan would have walked and they played an easy brexit hand. State intervention is sometimes necessary, to save steel for example which the govt are trying to protecting today. Increasingly socialist measures are becoming prevalent, and the furlough itself, re-nationalisation of failed privatisations,, transport corporation tax are left-wing policies, and of course the NHS who should be getting the all the credit for vaccines etc. not brexit, is state-run. Had the UK stayed though, this would have not happened. In addition it is being ignored by brexiteers that the UK has no control itself over battery production at Sunderland, it and electric cars are for the EU market. The cells produced in Sunderland will need to abide by EU legislation currently being drafted that will oblige companies to carry out everything from due diligence on mining raw materials used in batteries to following-through with detailed recycling targets for flat cells. Brussels new rules are to keep out asian battery imports mainly but applies to other non-eu mambers like the UK. Not a bad result for Sunderland though, but it would have been so much better if we had remained. The taxpayer will certainly be digging deep over this and similar 'investments' (bail-outs we used to call them.

Panorama looks worth a watch tonight, over 200 companies have located to the E.U, lots more apparently but they have traced 220 odd of those that got back to them, the rest were probably stuck in the removal van at Dover!

There is nothing noble about importing cheap labour. Cogent points. In all the northern economies the state has first and foremost become about welfare...and that's independent of young or old....the state is seen as tax credit or dole payment for the young or the the NHS 'cradle to grave' and pension protector for the older (most now far outlive their contributions). All this money is mostly on the never never.....Of course generations raised like this are going to think that hard physical work is beneath them. This money tree reality of an MMT economy acts as a powerful attractant for immigrants who know that once they have the foot in the door they can benefit as well....if you don't mind the pun. But once inflation gets out of control, the interest rates will have to rise and debt repayment becomes impossible once that happens the spiral is unstoppable as borrowing will end...and ping goes the welfare state.....but personally I think we have another five years at least. I also do parties.
