the urban yoof have little fear of the cops or prison sentences.

But they do have a lot of fear of other urban yoof.

hence they carry a blade. Allegedly for self protection.

I have always found good manners, a lack of eye contact and a healthy dose of cowardice to be an excellent protection. To keep life and soul together.

a lot of these kids killing kids is either about drugs, money, girls or 'respect'.

So we should not look thugs in the eye, show them good manners and be a coward. That should deter them!

Well said, this is exactly the right attitude to have. If losing 5 minutes out of your day saves a life to knife crime, we would all do it in an instant. I think that done correctly, a search can also become a chat with your local officers. There needs to be a bit more respect about those trying to protect us from the public in general but the Police have to get their attitude bang on as well.

I think harsher punishments for carrying a concealed weapon need to come in too. If it was 2 to 3 years imprisonment without parole I’m pretty sure knife crime would plummet.

Most definitely. I get the argument that some people carry out of fear (of others doing so), which I can understand on one level. However, realistically it all just makes more violence more likely. As you say if people know there is always going to be a severe consequence if found carrying a concealed weapon it will likely factor into the likelihood of them doing so.

ask the dead 22 year old from Kilburn at the weekend. It appears he walked past 3 bad-boys loitering outside a supermarket.

if he had ignored them, they may have gone off and murdered a different kid.

Why don't we just go full american in that case and have open carry laws for firearms to at least even the playing field?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I prefer the Spanish route. Zero tolerance of anyone carrying any weapons and all Police carry a gun. When you have a strong ethos of keeping weapons off the street and a similarly strong one that the law enforcement are well armed, there is only ever one winner.

Not sure what the plice situation is in mainland Spain, but in Ibiza, they have "La Policia" (police) and "La Guardia" (some sort of fusion of police and army) and the people are s*** scared of the Guardia. They carry guns, they police fair and they take no s***. Would love to see that over here.

'bad boys', 'rascals', let's call them what they are - 'murdering scumbag thugs' and stop appeasing them. We should have the death penalty for them.

The solution is very simple. Military service. They want to have weapons so badly... Give it to those muppets with an army uniform and force them to fight for us in Syria.

Knowing that is a threat. Will not be surprised that all, when all of a sudden the number of knives crime that happens in the UK will decrease.

If too young. Then dress them in bright pink dresses, force them to clean the UK and do proper manual labour. Be a good member of society. State that pictures will be given to local paper if they commit any more crimes. All of a sudden.... Their hard "roadman" rep will have gone.

When a current threat is a nice jail with a pool table and tv. Not a threat at all.
