To be fair to Labour (and not often you will see me write those words) the Blair slogan of 'Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime', is a pretty slick one.

Sadly neither of our main political parties live up to that hype. We need our entire justice system over-hauling, with the Police returning to the notion of a force, rather than a service. And a justice system that actually punishes. A good mate of mine who is in the Met was seriously assaulted last year by somebody he was trying to arrest, leaving him with permanent scars. Got to court and the CPS essentially let the charge of ABH fall by the wayside. The criminal got 6 months community service and a £100 fine. A joke.

Assault on a uniformed police officer should be an automatic custodial sentence. End of.

You need to check meaning of words and facts before you post dannyboy, a foreigner is someone from another country- nothing to do with the commonwealth, and the shooter is not dead- just facts dan, just simple facts!

Who pulled the trigger and where did he live for quite a long time? What are the chances it’s Croydon or a bit further towards lawless London. Which of Croydon, Norwich and Banstead tried to burn down its town? Which has gang problems? Which has knives or machetes being pulled over pavement or traffic arguments?
