Just Passing a message dont hate me if it's not true but a certain pub landlord at palace (I wont tell you) has told me that he has been told by someone very in the know that Palace believe a deal can be done and are gonna press to bring Benrahma here with the player app apparently keen. Brentford have stated 25 million he reckons we will go slightly lower first to test the water. Do not shoot the messanger for I am not the ITK but this landlord has got things right and the only time he has been wrong was sigurdsson and steven caulker.

Sure, hudsoneagle, I get what you mean. But Chelsea didn't just transfer Chilwell, they also transferred Havertz, Werner, Zyiech, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr, none of which came from the PL That's just 1 out of 6 transfers this summer who came from England (16%). Now look at Palace. Ferguson- home based. Eberechi- home based. Batshuayi- playing in England. Now looking at Benrahma- playig in England. Last year: McCarthy, Ayew, Cahill, Tosun- playing in England. Well, there's a reason why in 10 years a club doesn't grow. Look at Leicester. Where were they 10 years ago and where are they now? Where did their players come from? Mahrez- France's Ligue 2, Tielemans from Monaco, Praet from Sampdoria, Ricardo pereira from Porto, Soyuncu from Freiburg, Ndidi from Genk, Kante from Caen, Castagne from Atalanta. And they have plenty of English yongsters too. A club has to expand the selection area. Otherwise it will be a local club. They need people to watch and evaluate players fro a 7 billion population world, not a 40 million country. Very good example Leicester to be fair to you. We have definitely tended to choose England based players without a doubt. We have signed players like Luka and Sorloth so we must have our eyes on the European market. It’s complicated when we make direct comparisons. I chose Chelsea because I thought the Chilwell transfer was on point with what you’re saying. High fee for an English player where other European targets may have given better value. But I’m certain it’s always a bit more complicated than how we see it. Dougie is still quite green in his role, let’s hope with time we can be finding gems out there like teams like Leicester or Brentford.

Only kidding mate thanks for passing it on. Truly exciting to think we could get this player.

Benrahma would have to go some to beat Rash the Smash (Harkouk). And we would require tracking back. Sounds very unlike SP to me, with all our crocked older defenders refresh them with a younger signing or 2. And we have Kirby, hoping he will breakthrough now.

Dann is fit, Kelly made the bench and Sakho has returned to training. Let’s hope it’s not long before the CB issue is behind us. Another plus is that Kouyaté played well vs Saints.

Even reputable sources such as the Times etc, are stating that we are talking to him. I personally think 25 mil is a bit much - which is the price being touted - I would like to get that down to maybe 15 mil but with add ons to bump it up over 20 mil.

They need people to watch and evaluate players fro a 7 billion population world, not a 40 million country. Leicester have obviously had some major successes in recent years with a few masterstroke bargain signings from abroad ie Mahrez and Kante. Most of the other successes you mention they paid top money for Soyuncu 20m+, Tielemans 40m+, Pereira 20m+, it's not as though they've got bargain prices because they've scouted Europe or in fact they discovered these talents. In fact we bid for a Castagne a year before them! They've also had their share from abroad that haven't worked out Slimani, Musa, Kramaric. Also just occurred to me one of their recent successes has been Maddison, pricey English second tier talent. For me talent is talent no matter where you find it and if palace feel it's less of a risk to buy pricey talent who are already used to the English game then so be it. There is no 'one' way to grow a club or be successful in ther transfer market otherwise everyone would just be doing it. Edited by samprior (15 Sep 2020 3.39pm)

I'd like to hear your thoughts on why those didn't work out. Kramaric is obviously a world class player, World Cup runner up, Bundesliga top 5 scorer this year, scored 4 goals in a single match against Borussia Dortmund, top quality. In my opinion 15 league matches and 5 cup mathes with a total of 900 minutes in which he scored was a good start and he just wasn't given confidence. Same for Musa, played well, but mosty out of position, just left for a big paycheck in the Arab area.
