"lighter skin tone were praised more often for their intelligence and work ethic." Is there any evidence to say the commentators are wrong?

Later, a young black man kept referring himself as a bame man and his friends who were bame. Who calls themselves a bame man for heaven's sake? Maybe I should start referring to myself as Wasp Man and join the X Men. weren't you in X-Men 2?
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

If you like a good acronym, join the nhs, that place eats drinks and sleeps acronyms. I once sat at a meeting where the only meaningful words were Hi my name is, yes, no, and, the, thanks for listening. Wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t 15 mins long. I came out and rather sheepishly asked one of the management team what he was talking about and he said, “I’m not 100% sure”. Didn’t feel quite so bad then. At my work meetings we also suffered from a POA (plethora of acronyms) that so it was fun to MUA (make up acronyms) or conclude it was a LOOB (Load Of Old Bollox).

Not as bad as Alan Green on Five Live some years back. Whilst commentating on a match (Man City I believe who had a Chinese player on the pitch) with Jimmy Armfield he was having trouble pronouncing the player's name. After a while he frustratingly said something like '..... oh Chicken Chow Main'. Armfield was stuck for words.

There's a reason why Michelangelo and the like sculpted characters such as David with small todgers. Because having a great big dork equated with beastliness.

Is there any evidence to say the commentators are wrong? and darker skin tone was mentioned as being associated more with power and speed. Hmm, did this survey also take into account what position on the pitch these players were? Comparing a Jedinak type player in midfield who was an intelligent defender (commentators speak for being in the right place at the right time) would not be the same as describing a Chris Armstrong type who was all about speed (commentators speak for he is fekking quick) and to keep this line of argument totally unbiased from a colour perspective, how about trying to compare Patrick Viera with Ian Wright using their point of view? They also missed the point that in the professional game a player is often described as intelligent (or quick) to make up for the shortcomings in the rest of his game. Sakho for example is described as an intelligent defender who reads the game well. This is a polite way of saying he is quite slow and has to read the game well otherwise he wouldn't be playing at this level. The same argument can be levelled at countless numbers of white centre halfs. In short the whole thing is a nonsense. You can make statistics prove anything if you really want to. All they are doing is trying to criticise every single facet of our day to day life and turn us into a guilt ridden society. But to what end is the question?

Commentators have had to develop a double speak over the years so as not to offend the players. They are not likely to say that Benteke is a skilful player with a great first touch and an eye for a goal.

We had a bloke at work who spoke in acronyms all the time. He got the nickname TLA but never did work out it stood for Three Letter Abbreviation. He was afraid to ask what it meant because he hadn't come across it before.

Candice Carty-Williams is both proud and sad at winning the British Book Award: 'Sad and confused' because she is the first black and female author to win the award (begun in 1994, not 1894). She's broken a perceived glass ceiling, so why the negativity? If a black woman wins the award for the next 20 years do we still have to be sad that it didn't happen till 2020. This attitude helps no one. No doubt a black trans writer will win it next year and they can be 'sad and confused' as well. Edited by Slimey Toad (30 Jun 2020 3.03pm)
