Any surprise at a Tongan face in the England team or a Tongan, Fijian, Papua New Guinean (etc etc etc) face in the New Zealand team? I’m not surprised if they’ve grown up in the country they’re playing for, not that they’re in the country to play rugby and for that country.

As soon as the pass was made, I, watching on TV, shouted "forward", as it was obviously so. I couldn't believe it when the TMO then said that he saw nothing wrong with it. Mind you, ever since I began watching RU in the 1960s, New Zealand have always been the masters of the forward pass. And the "accidental" obstruction on the Gary owen...

'nicking the best islanders'.....a little demographic lesson for you....there are more South Pacific islanders living in Auckland (not counting the other main centres either), than actually live in the islands....and that said, a geographic lesson for you too...New Zealand is a South Pacific island, so more right to have islanders in our team than England, do you have a large Tongan community anywhere in England?.... They have English parents. And you have been nicking them for years. Yes there are plenty of people around the world with English heritage. You being one.

Yeah I did think that too. All those Dutchmen playing for South Africa. Heard recently that China are planning to go down this route to win the football World Cup. If it’s done because someone has grown up in the country or parentage then there’s nothing to discuss but not to get a game, international experiences and caps or win tournaments. If we had a Messi who’d spent a few years in England winning us the World Cup it wouldn’t sit right with me. Wasn’t it Arteta who was thinking or planning to play for England? I was more surprised when Clinton Morrison found his roots were in Ireland. I doubt he would of bothered tracing his ancestry, if it wasn’t for international football.

My thoughts from an excellent set of QF's: To state the obvious England have it all to do next week against the All Blacks. It would have been a fitting final. Wales were extremely fortunate to progress. France played all the rugby and if it wasn't for the idiocy of one of their players, would have won comfortably. They still would have won if Ntamack didn't leave 5 very kickable points out there by hitting the post. Wales will lose to South Africa in what will be a battle of attrition.
